Suzuki Katana 600 wants to run...?
Im not sure how fast these bikes are, I know its one of the slowest 600's. Think I could take him in my cammed z28 from a 30 roll? (He wants to go from a roll) Anyone have any experience with these?
***oh yeah, he's stock, no mods, factory, 2001 model

It will be a close race for sure, but I think you can pull him. I took out a Honda 600 F3, mid 90s model from a roll. We went from 2nd gear and I just walked away from him. I know the bike I raced was an easy low 11 second bike and there's no way a katana 600 is running low 11s.

I don't think you'll take him. It may be one of the slowest 600's, but its still definately quick. I doubt a cam only with less than 400rwhp would do it. Add some spray and you'd have a better chance.

Those bikes run low 11s with professional riders, with joe blow riding, more like high 11s-low 12s. The time in my sig is on sticky tires, I was on street tires when I ran the bike. On street tires, my car will trap 2 mph higher than the slicks.

I knew Katanas were pieces of crap but damn...12.25?! I rode my brothers POS bike the other day which is an old *** early 90's Katana 600 and that thing sucks. Then again I'm used to my '02 CBR954RR that runs low to mid 10's. I doubt Suzuki made that piece much faster over 10 years of production but I could definitely tell my car would spank it.

you can definately take him.
i was driving and was messing with a katana 750. guy was a tool, has a chrome brain bucket and cloth tiger strips on the bike. well we come to a light, him in front of me. he started heating up his tire. light turns green and he hits it. i take off normally but wait just to make sure hes going to stay in it, and then i hit it. i was passing him by 110. the look on his face was priceless.
i think we got it on video, i just have to ask a friend.

Wow, some of you guys don't know **** about bikes. All you guys bashing Katanas, have you ever ridden one? I doubt it. If you had, you'd realize that they didnt make them anything like the main crotch rockets. They weren't made to be racing bikes. They were made to be great all around performance, look sporty, and still be very comfortable considering. I ride a CBR600 F4i, but learned on a Katana. They are great beginners bikes, and are much more comfortable. Speed is not the answer to life. Thats like calling a Lotus Elise a peice of ****. They sure do look like supercars, but are slower than hell considering.

I agree that a katana is a good bike to learn on which is why my brother bought his. It's always good to buy a piece of crap like that b/c 9 times out of 10 a first time rider will drop their first bike at least once. I admit I dropped my first one and I'm glad it wasn't something much faster and more expensive like a GSX-R, R6, 6R, or CBR600RR. That's not the debate here though. The original post is asking if he has a chance against a Katana 600 and the answer is a resounding YES!

I had a 1999 Katana 600 and if it is stock you will have little problems with it. If he's changes the either sprocket (common upgrade for bikes) it might make it a better fight. Mine has a full exhaust and smaller front sprocket and I could hold most LS1's off from a roll.
The only difference from 1999 to 2000 was stickers.
As for the Katana being slow, well it's a "sport-tour" bike and not an R bike. I road mine from NEPA to S Jersey (150+ miles) every weekend so you can see where a bike like this might be favored over an R bike.

I rode the bike the night before...his was a 99 600cc....it was a ******* joke....I have a 2004 R6...I **** with him all the time on the highway...while he is wide as open I am at half throttle........there a joke

I am familiar with the nomenclature and targeted application of various types of motorcycles
