Default Raced a New Stang GT "OVER RATED"

So I jumped on the interstate yesterday after working out, and up about a mile ahead of me I spotted a yellow mustang. I finially got up next to him and it was a new Yellow GT. So im next to him, 2 guys, and they looked over and got these looks on their face like, yeah what ever Ill beat you with my Mustang look. So next thing I know he punches it, well I figured that I had a few minutes so I took my good ole time and droped down to 3rd and stomped on it, we were doing about 65mph when this happened. I had to jump over to his lane cause a semi was in the right lane, I got up on his *** and when the right lane cleared I gave it full throttle again. I blew by him. So he catches up to me and looked over at me and we slew down to about 50 or 55 and gave me a 1 2 3 with his fingers, so he honked 3x's and we went, I instantly put a few cars on him, then it just wasnt funny, I blew him away so bad. He eventually caught up to me and wouldnt even look over, his passanger had the dumbest look on his face. So I finially look over again and give him the thumbs up and he rolls down his window and says, I was full throttle the whole time, what do you have in that thing, and I just yelled back exhaust, he yells no n2o, I said nope, he goes, holy **** you pulled so hard, I thought I could take you. I just laughed and thanked him for making my night . That was fun. First new mustang kill for me to the day. Im so pumped. Just thought I would share with everyone.

lol...I love the story man. We got a few "Stangers" here....and kkep in mind...I like Mustangs...but we have some bad attitude Stangers that always want to race and tell you how bad they are gonna win. But torching one with the Z car is always fun.

Keep up the racing friend. Great Kill

I tried to get a guy with a new shelby GT 500 to race the other day but he declined. I was disappointed to say the least. I wanted to see how it ran.

Good Kill BTW!!!

Well that's a good kill and all, but why say "just exhaust" when that's not all that you have?

Nice Kill. Sounds to me like you beat a stock GT, with a passenger. And you have a fair amount of mods. I would expect that outcome.

But I wouldn't call an 05+ GT "Over Rated". I've seen how well they run against LS1's. With less bolt ons and 30HP less from the factory, they still run strong with the LS1. I've filmed a race a while back of two members on here going at it. It was an 05GT with bolt ons vs. an SS with bolt ons. It was a surprisingly close race. Hopefully they'll chime in with their input..

But run what you brung . Good kill.

Cause at 65 mph I didnt feel like screaming at the top of my lungs what I had done. Know what I mean. The reasons I say over rated is because of how much talk the new mustang guys are doing up here in erie. I know they are a hell of a street machine, but I didnt expect to beat it that bad. I just wish people wouldnt talk them up so much around here. I still wont mess with any cobra's though

S197s are low end cars. From a roll, they fall fairly flat on his face.

BTW - with a CAI, and 91 Octane Tune, they will put down 285-300 RWHP. The ECU programing from FMC SuX.

I ran one back when i just had an exhuast and lid (A4) and i ran a 13.2 and the car in the next lane was an 05 gt (Automatic) w/ a k&n intake and exhuast and it ran 13.7. I dont necessarily think they are "overrated" becuase theyre not rated high to begin with, lol.

Thats the last time he'll mess with with an LS1 until he gets some work done.

Good kill.

Haven't had a run with one yet in my Camaro but I ran one in my Trailblazer SS and pulled him by about 2 cars from a dig to about 90mph. I didn't talk with the guy but he was at least an exhaust and his car was a manual as well (and he could drive, only spun alittle on the launch and was banging through the gears pretty good).

You should have said you had turbo and nitrous and put 800 to the wheels, and give him props for hanging so well and he has a fast stang.

No, not overrated. They run pretty good for what they are stock and respond well to minor mods like an LSx. Sales are going pretty well for Ford as well...good thing for them since most of the rest of Ford's line isn't.

The 05 up stangs already have a very vast aftermarket, so hang in there and you'll run across one that gives you a better race.

My Lt1 takes took them out quite regularly on the street at stoplights. I only had shorties, MSD coil, cooling mods, and a short shifter...

But hey at least they are doing what they can in keeping up with GM of 1992

I was lined up with one in my town and he wouldn't race..? I kept trying to get him going but he wouldn't, he just tried not to look at me. I'm looking forward to running a cobra....there's one here with the previous body style..looked cool.
