Ok so theres this one kid whose mom bought him an 06 mustang GT, i had a catback and he was all stock, and i smoked him pretty bad 3 months ago. i have an auto.
Now he wants to race for some cash now that hes done with his car.. hes 17 and im 19... he doesnt know how to launch i think without bogging. but that was also 3 months ago..

now i have full exhaust and 3200ss stall. my best 1/8 time is 8.14

and he now has gears, and full bolt ons, maf, gears, slicks, cai, x pipe, headers and tune... 3.90 gears.

Should i take him up on the $200 offer? he CLAIMS it has 370hp in it but i dont think so..

 

He doesn't have 370hp with out a power adder 325,330 at best,If he has some sticky's and the mods he says 12.7's 12'5's .It would be a good race with a great driver,but it sounds like he's not.You should get him easily.It sounds like he has a manual tranny.

 

You better hope you get your launch right the first time!

 

You'd bette hopehe isn't smart enough to hide a unit on it.

Other than that, if you can get ahold of a set of DR's i say go for it.

 

i will if i can, and man when he had street tires, he would rev the car vroom vrooom vroom constantly, then dump the clutch and spin hard. maybe with the drs hes better..

i dunno though, ive beaten a few cammed ls1s from a dig in the 1/8 mile. so im not that worred. if i were cammed i wouldnt even be asking this ??

i got my launch down, perfectly now. very consistant

 

Are his headers long tubes or shorties? Basically the same mods (without headers) are going to put him a bit over 300rwhp (305-320). Add another 20 or so rwhp if they are long tubes and thats where he at. With those mods and slick he SHOULD run about a 12.3-4.

A bunch of guys I know run about a 12.5-7 with those mods (minus headers/MAF) and Drag Radials. He should give you a good run for your money if he can drive at all.

I'd put my money on the GT. Even with your stall, his gears and slicks should give him the jump out of the hole. Plus, he's full bolt ons. Even with your mods, there's a very slim chance you'd be able to pull past him on the top end.

But, it will be a very very close race either way.

 

watch out for a bottle. all mustangs for some reason resort to nitrous. oh and for you hatters out there i said mustangs not cobra.

 

More owners run a vortech or a procharger. If they do run nitrous its because they are saving for one of the aforementioned. Unless you have too much compression, like I do.

and he told me hes getting a tremec tranny in the future and also a supercharger. with 6psi or something.

Well what he really needs to do is upgrade his axles. Id say your best bet is to get him to drop his tire pressure way down, then redline launch it You wont even need to floor it then, he will just be sitting still.

Race him before his supercharger lol.

If he really is a ricer at hear racing around everywhere he goes, tell him I told him to buy an import. Mustangs already have a bad enough rep lol.

 

Sounds to me like hes full of crap, but you never know anymore, us mustang owners are sneaky and he'll probably get you if hes not full of crap.

 

Why not get a little 50 hit or something on your ride, Its 5-6 hundered bucks well spent, hell if your running him for cash, that covers some of it, or bottle fee's. Just a thought. If hes geared and full boltons and hes got a driver mod, Id have to go with the stang. You also have to take into consideration, hes been running the car for 3 months now, its not new to him like it was the first time you waxed him. Hes probably better at driving the thing at this point. I would put a little juice on her, and walk him by a bit. Hell come back with more mods and more money, turn up the shot, walk again. You might get a new motor out of the deal if you play your cards right :-p. Street racing for $ is about the hustle, teach him that, after you take his money.

 

I'm with Matt put some squeeze on it, find a friend that will let you borrow his d/r's. Either way it should be a close race, just make sure you slash his tires before hand...

 

Beat him and beat him badly! I hope you win although it sounds like a close race. I can't stand racing people who have their cars bought for them. I raced a guy who had a Cutlass with a 400SB in it and everytime he broke his Dad would come get him.

 

first off idk what hes talkin about, the stock maf will support 500rwhp on these cars so he doesnt have an aftermarket one, with those mods which is exactly what i had before my turbo hell make about 315-320 rwhp and abouy 335rwtq. n i also have 3.90 gears they pull hard till you run out of 4th at 120 so i give him the edge unless you can talk him into runnin to 140 then i think you can edge him out top end. maybe???

 

I'd get stickier tires in the LS1 and then just run him.


Most people who talk about racing before just racing are full of ****, in my experience. This kid doesn't sound any different.
