Nice. A decently modified GT500 might give you a run when you're
N/A...but it's pretty much over for all of them when you're spraying.
There are only a handful of GT500's running bottom 10's.
It's pretty clear to see why you whooped up on this guy.

And you only put 2 lenghts on him?
I think there was somthing up with that GT500. In stock form they are a mid 12 second car on the average. For him to be running with a low 11 second f-body...I dunno...
Any of you more Mustang savvy guys want to take a guess at what the GT500 mods are (if you think any).

I disagree with you here bro. I think the market for both cars are very much the same, upper middle-class middle aged guys. Sure, just like any car their are going to be people outside of the 'target market' buying them, but I guarantee that Ford had its sights set on the 'Vette buyers with this thing. Why do you think they are going so 'retro' with the entire Carrol Shelby and GT500 talk of the late '60's? Just like the Corvette, Ford is looking to get that 55 year old white guy that wants to re-live his past.

i disagree on the vette and mustang being in the same market. sports car vs pony car. its not even a comparison other than price. the mustang is a practical car that is a little faster than most. vette is a 2 seater, very low to the ground, and would not work well as a d/d or even be driveable all year along the snow belt.

This is funny to me, as a former Mustang guy! I know for 100% fact that a stock LS1 vs a stock Cobra or Mach 1 is a drivers race. And stock or other wise I have sent many LS or LT1 F-bodies crying home to momma in my 99 Cobra. When your on the street anything can happen and more than anything cockiness from F-body drivers is why I have beaten so many.
That being said for what it is, the GT500 although overweight is still a great platform to start with. To get a damn near Ford GT spec engine for $43k(if you can find one for that) is amazing. And now owning a C5, its the GT500 owners that are cocky. I had one that wouldn't race on the freeway and try me at low speeds. When the gates of hell opened up and I went sideways about 45 mph....his eyes open real wide and he backs off. I was pulling him as I was going sideways and he wanted no more
The Bottom line is don't think for one second because its X brand of car(unless its a 4 cylinder N/A import) that you can expect to win. And I agree the Vette is not the same kind of car the Mustang is, not even close. The Mustang is a sporty car, and the Corvette is a sports car. There are no V6 Corvettes, even the basic Corvette is a fire breathing sports car.

of the Corvette market share with the GT500, not that the GT500 actually
is in the same class.

Agreed, its actually a good ploy. If they were selling at MSRP I was going to buy one instead of my Vette. There are some guys that prefer the back seat especially family guys like me.

Remember, I'm A4 (3.73 gears) and this is from a roll a bit below 80mph.

I think it is hilarious that this guy beat a GT500 with his modded car and right away all you Oval guys start bashing him about all his "mods" he has done to his car. WHO CARES!
A kill is a kill regardless.
BTW how does anyone know that the GT500 was stock anyways?? It could have been modded for all we know.
Don't be mad since Ford had to stick a blower on a car to compete with what GM is doing NA! (stirring the pot)

Don't get mad cause gm used a significant larger motor to keep up with a stokc 03 cobra. You can say what ever you want to make the other guy look bad. Who cares. Not like the topic started even trashed on the 500 anyways he just said he beat it.

you could say that ten diff ways. Don't be mad that this guy needed a cam and more cubes to keep up with a STOCK ford.

I like your little comment about how GM used a significantly larger motor to keep up with a stock 03 Cobra. First off, I have seen BOLT ON LS1's beat 03 Cobras. It's more like your precious little Ford NEEDED a blower to keep up with a NA GM. Look what happened when GM put a blower on it's LS3, we got the LS9 and 650+ RWHP. The reason GM doesn't use FI induction is because they can do the same NA.
I'm not trying to make the other guy look bad and I am not thrashing on the GT500. Those things can be made fast, just like any other car can be when money is put into it. But right away all the Blue Oval guys came in and started saying how the LS1 NEEDED a cam...etc to keep up with a STOCK GT500. We don't know if it was stock and, I'm sorry, but comparing a 325 HP Stock LS1 to a 500 HP FI Cobra is recockulous. Of course the LS1 is going to need some mods to keep up with the Cobra, ****, the LS1 is 5 years older than the Cobra.
Honestly man, take your 0 post and go cry in the sand.

Why don't you ****** Ford guys go to your own GD forum. The only reason yall even come on this website is to whine bitch **** and moan about every Mustang kill. STFU!! There is a select few Mustang owners on here that are OK and I'm not talking to yall but the rest of you are a PITA. STFU and go to your Mustang forum and talk about how Mustangs are god and the only way an LS1 can win is if we modify them.

Got a link to an LS9 650rwhp post? I would actually like to see it. I think it would be easier and cheaper going 600rwhp N/A on a C6 Z06 vs LS9 C6.

I havent seen any rwhp numbers yet for the LS9 but THAT (650rwhp) is common territory for 4.6 liter 03 Cobras and even more on GT500's. FYI.
