So, I'm heading home from work today around noon and was getting ready to turn into an offramp lane when I see this navy blue 99ish Cobra come hauling *** up to catch me looking very cocky... so I get back in the normal lane to play. I catch up to him, and we slowed to around 60mph, and he just takes off before me, so I gun it and catch up to him, pass a car, and pass him doing about 120-130mph. It was CLOSE. his front bumper was probably at my rear bumper. It had to have been an auto, and either it was a slow *** Cobra, or a GT with all the right markings of a 99ish Cobra. We just played around on the road after that and went out separate ways.
It looked like a genuine Cobra all around, but would I really have beat one like this?

The Machs generally trap a couple mph higher, and run a few tenths quicker. 5spd Mach 1s are low-mid 13s cars, whereas 99 and 01 Cobras were more like mid-high 13s cars. And good kill OP.

It's a combination of a few things... I think the Mach has better flowing heads, and the cams are targeted more toward mid-range power. I *think* the Tremec 3650 has slightly better gearing than the T-45 (3650 in the Mach, T-45 in the '99 Cobra and most if not all of the '01s). And then there's the 3.55 geared live axle of course.
Since when do LT1 F-bodies "murder" New Edge GTs?

They're both high 13s cars with good drivers... LT1 cars have hit ~13.5-13.6, GTs have hit 13.7-13.8. And they trap about the same. They're very similar in performance. And yeah, all V8 5spds went from T-45 to 3650 mid '01 (starting with the Bullitt), and '99 and '01 Cobras had 3.27s.

I have SLP cold air, BBK throttle body, trickflow inlet elbow and cutout open. He seemed disappointed when I beat him. It was a very good race, I give him props. I did not spray, but I would like to see how it would have went. Thanks! I had a big ole grin.
