2000 Z28 vs Mach 1
I was coming home from a huge car meet last night and was on the interstate when i saw a blue Mach 1 pass me with a nice note to it. I give it some gas to catch up to him and once i do, i go WOT to see if he's game. Right after i hit my brakes he pulls up to me, downshifts quickly, and hits it himself. I flash my lights and he brakes and i pull up next to him again.
Once beside him i yell "3 honks" and he nods. He was alone and i was with a 310lb passenger. I hear him downshift again so that lets me know it's a manual, and it also has a deep, loud note to it, so i'd assume he has at least exhaust done to it. I have 4.10 gears, Hooker longtubes, 3 inch true duals and a slp lid. We are rolling at 60mph. I honk it three times with me going on the second honk to where i can catch on the third (A4).
I immediately started pulling and just had a steady walk the whole way. I shut down at 120mph exactly and i had about 3 cars on him. He got beside me and we exchanged thumbs up and he got off on the exit.

Not bad for having such a weight disadvantage (your fat friend).
Mach1's are quick cars, but you have the power to walk one with minimal mods. Hopefully this doesn't turn into another **** fest and get locked like 99.9% of the other Mach1 threads here.
Good kill for sure.

Good kill man. I don't know why these always turn ugly. Your car was already stronger from a roll stock vs. stock, and you have a couple important mods (gears and LTs) that make it even stronger from a roll. Doesn't surprise me at all

Well my friend is 6"10" 310lbs so his weight is at least somewhat proportional for his height. He was also the friend who was in the car when i ran a M6 SS LS1, who was alone, with full bolts ons, ls6 intake and a TR224 cam when i tied and only lost by a car (check the other thread for the video). I do have a HPTuners shift kit tune on my tranny which helps.
I wanted to go from a low roll (like 25mph) and take it all the way up to around 120-130 to see if i could get a few buses on the Mach 1 but there were cars coming behind us and he also had to get off at the next exit.
I haven't ran my car at the track yet because i would spin way too much to get a good time. Once i get the TNT wet kit (150 shot) next week, along with MT DR's and a 4000 stall i will take it to the track and hope for a very low 11. If i had DR's and my setup right now so i could hook, i think id be somewhere in the low to mid 12's.

This is why these threads turn ugly:
Because people start to get delusional and full of themselves. You've got nothing special on your car that's going to allow you to pull a "few buses" on even a stock Mach 1. You need to quit showing off for the other kids, and get yourself back under control!

On a side note- Back when i had my Bullitt (4.10's/exhaust) this dude I knew who literally weighed 400+lbs wanted a ride. I was a little confused when the burnout was VERY weak but the damn thing couldn't even chirp second for crying out loud!! Then I was scraping on local roads I'd driven on countless times! I probably used half the life of my clutch that day.

You would think by this quote that you have a 383-408 SBC and not a 350rwhp LS1 like you probably do. Get rid of your 245 series girly tires and take it to the track, you don't have near enough power to say you would spin way too much to get a good time. Thats funny though...

I have 4.10 gears in an automatic and 275/40/17 BFG G-Force tires. Thats about as good of street tires as you can get. If i hit it from a 25mph roll, i spin all the way through first and usually start getting full traction around 60mph. When i had 2.73's i wouldnt spin from a dead stop. The gears made me spin.
I said id pull a few buses on him because i would. I got three cars on him, which is slightly more than a bus, from 60-120. If we started lower, i wouldve probably gotten about 2 (5-6 cars), which is a few. 5-6 lengths is only about a half of a second difference in the 1/4 mile. My car is around a mid 12, while his is a low 13. It makes perfect sense. I said a bus, not a train. Im not talking ****, im stating the facts.
