What shocks should I get? I would like to stay american made like Strange and i like that they are 10 way adjustable. But it is a cruiser so I am looking for opinions. KYB AGX, Bilstien, Strange, or QA1

Call a few suspension sponser on here and ask them about the QA1s and Strange, They will tell you that the QA1 is metric and not all that american, and the Strange is a better choice of the Two. I have QA1s and am switching mainly cuz they need to be rebuilt. And it has been a pain to get parts.

(and you are driving a Candian made car, with parts from all over the world )
Your description is very brief, what exactly do you want to change about the car by getting shocks? Control? Handling? Feel? Weight transfer? Ride quality? The list of shocks you have are from opposite ends of the spectrum, two being drag shocks and the other two being handling shocks.

You want to stay American made but you list Bilstien which is German, and KYB is Japanese.

Its a cruiser. I was talking to people and they said i can adjust the strange shocks to be more for handling. By staying american i meant i would like to use the american one (strange) but want the best thing. I do not have the money for konis at the moment. I want it to handle better but i also do alot of "racing" more just messing around with people at stop light while im cruising. I am changing shocks because im doing Strano springs. and i have a harder side wall tire that will cause more road deflection. So i want to compensate for that. Bassically I want it to ride as good or better and handle as good or better at the same time without making it ride like a truck.
All I can tell you from experience is if you want good ride quality and good handling stay away from drag shocks (like QA1 and Strange).
And FYI both QA1's and Strange are about as much as Konis are.

Strange double adjustable would be your best option for a street-rod. I personally would get AFCO's, but they are more expensive and suited for drag racing. Strange makes a good DA shock, and are very reliable. We're a dealer for Strange, so if you'd like to order a set of shocks, give me a call. 225-673-3533

Very generally that's true. The valving you want for drag racing is very far removed from the valving you want to control a car that is street driven, let alone driven hard or with more handling based components (like lowering springs).
What many don't know, and what I like to point out is this: Koni has for years made drag shocks. That's not what I use on this car, and it should be noted that Koni's drag shocks include a note that states the shocks are not intended for highway use...doing so may result in personal injury. That's because the valving is not about giving the car control, it's about getting it to leave.
Now if Koni, one of the most world-renown damper companies in the world can't make a shock that "does both well", considering the range of dampers they do make (including those on McLaren F1 cars), I don't believe you'll get a very good drag/control shock elsewhere. I use the Koni Sports, and while not intended to drag we have a number of folks on them in dual purpose cars with not exactly crappy 60's.
I realize I digressed.... sorry. I just got on a thought and had to follow it through.

You're getting Sam's springs, call him and get the shocks he recommends. It will be his revalved Bilsteins or Konis. Listen to him, you will not be sorry. My vote is Konis, wish I had.

I have to disagree with both of the above statements. Why? Well, because I own a set of DA's---yet that's not what I run on my car.
In fact, only one of my National Champioships was won on DA's (and even then I was running the compression full soft).
I don't see the reason to spend more on a more fragile shock (more to break and less compression travel because the bump adjuster is stacked onthe bottom of the shock).

With the Koni DAs he could set the compress, and rebound for drag racing, then when he leaves the track re-adjust them for street/corner carving, correct?
Sam,
Wouldn't the Koni DAs be a better option, then DA drag shocks for a dual purpose shock?
