If your '96 SS uses the short black ones along with the aluminum spacers like my '00 SS your pretty much out of luck getting them new, I couldn't get them from GM(discontinued) and had to get a used one. Make a post in the Parts Wanted section, that's how I got mine.
If your looking for the longer tapered type the situation isn't much better, check this thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspensio...r-bushing.html

The short red ones look useless. Too stiff.
How would you describe the firmness of the compound? Did they make them really soft or what?

I haven't used those aftermarket ones, I got bump stops from a Chevy dealer only a couple months ago, I guess they were discontinued only recently. I think the reason those are so expensive is because of the metal used on the base.

So you're looking at about $52 to do exactly the same thing!

Better yet just buy the bumpstops. And with a slight modification to either the bump stop or mount they bolt right up! This is you best bet, unless you mount some bump stops(koni 55mm I think) on the shock shaft like JasonWW did!

Now that I'm tubbing the rear of my car, I'm looking for some adjustable height bumpstops. Something I can adjust up or down to really maximize the suspension travel. I haven't fount anything yet, unless you count the pnuematic bumpstops used on offroad race trucks, but they are rediculously expensive. I'm thinking more like a foam tapered stop molded to a threaded rod for 10 bucks. No one seems to make anything close, though.

The only guy I know with a tubbed rear (and front) for lowering purposes is Kenny. Check it out here.

All I've got done so far is clearancing the trans tunnel. My torque arm was touching the parking brake bracket. Now that this is fixed, I can go down another 1/2". Now I'm touching the tank.

As you will see on Kenny's car, there are a ton of things that have to be done including getting the gas tank out of the way. Once you get down to a certain point, everything suddenly jumps into your face.
