Default C6 Calipers Installed

Here's a few pictures of the C6 swap, I had been putting this off for a while.

Used Trackbrackets - thanks to Trackbird, for all the help.

If anyone needs any info hit me up.

I know this swap is old news as everyone seems to be fixated on the CTS stuff. I considered doing the CTS-V swap, but I need to keep the 10 spokes for DD. The 17s for the street will allow for cheaper street tires and it will prevent me from worrying about curb rash or dings.

I'm running 18x10.5s on all 4 with toyo r888s for autox, with this setup I'll feel more comfortable banging on the brakes

I dont know if it's just mental or getting used to them but the pedal feel seems a little softer than stock. Make no mistake this setup locks up the tires alot easier than the stock setup. Obviously it will prove more efficient in the long run as it will dissipate more heat.

I cant get over the bling factor.... the rotors are substantial vs the stock ones, also fills the wheel gap really nice, the plus is they read "corvette".

Dont hate I know those 10 spokes are beat up....my cars never been for show although I do try to baby her....

Here's a quick run down of the parts:

C6 Calipers (non Z06)
C6 base brackets (non Z51)
Napa Standard C5 directional rotors
Steel Braided Lines
Trackbrackets
Hawk HPS Pads
Raybestos Spring Clips H5644A
Dot 4 flush

If you shop around you can put this kit together inexpensively. Adding it all up I spent $575 and some change, of course did all the labor myself.

I'll be autoxing this setup, drilled and slotted dont last as long, however, they do look great for the street.

No clearance issues here with 10 spokes. I can offer this little tip, if you are swapping the lines.

When disconnecting the stock lines. Dont use a regular wrench on the hard line. I think the line nut calls for a 12 metric wrench. The regular wrench didnt have enough leverage and I stripped the edge of the nut on 2 sides.

A quick re thinking made me use a vice grip on the rubber side and a medium crescent wrench on the actual hard line. THat provided alot more leverage and grip!

Maybe it's common sense, but I never thought the ******* nut would just strip even when the wrench caught it perfectly (no play). Oh well, live and learn.

they make a line wrench that grabs on all sides. works way better. use the right tool or be a fool.

Never knew that existed...

Thanks, and yea I felt like a damn fool when it stripped.

The good thing is, I was able to find a work around and managed to replace them with no other issues.

Price....

Eventually I will give those a try.

The guy that sold me the rotors cut me a deal I couldnt turn down with basically new hawk pads.

I already had hawk pads on the old setup, and initially wanted HP + pads, but I had a feeling they might be a bit to aggressive, with rotors and overall pedal sensitivity.

I still have the old hawks and if they dont sell with my stock setup (for sale BTW) I'll have a back up pair just in case.

I forgot to add that I painted these and the paint doesn't stick as good as it did on the stock ones...I couldn't understand why.

Upon installation I got more than a few scrapes and complete chips on certain places.

I ran out of caliper paint, so I'll be ordering another can and touch them up. You cant tell from the pictures, but thats a good thing!

the "Track Brackets" are the same as the "Bishop Bracket" Right..? If not very similar.. anyways did you have to cut the spindle when you did the bracket?? also where did you get the Bracket from??

Yes, the trackbrackets are essentially the original Bob Bishop design. The bracket is cut from a single piece, not welds or attached (welded) pieces.

Yes, have to cut the spindle.

I purchased from trackbird over at frrax, but I believe you can purchase online thru hotpart.

Very happy with the results and quality of the setup!

The C6 rotors are said to have a different vain structure (non directional), however, they are supposed to be stronger. I don't know that there is any real proof or #s but one look at a C6 vs C5 you decide.

C6 cost a bit more than the C5.

also is there any difference in the z51 caliper bracket?
The Z51 bracket allows you to use the 13.5" rotors from the Z51 package. I might get these brackets later on to bling it out with some of the OEM drilled rotors, they look very nice, but don't offer a huge performance difference.

I've been getting alot of double takes on the brakes lately...especially when you see them walk by and you can see their lips saying C O R V E TT E...wtf. haha

The new C6 calipers have corvette cast in bigger letters, as opposed to the older Z06 calipers, it's bad! They also elimanted the fins in the back and it appears bulkier and possibly stronger.

BTW with the Z51 brackets and the 13.5 Z51 rotors 17's probably wont work. Would have to move to an 18" wheel. I would think I don't know for sure.

anyone know the difference in the C6 non Z06 calipers and the C5 Z06 calipers? These look identical to the C5 Z06 calipers.
Not trying to be an ***....but did you not read thru the thread and posts?

They are essentially the same, with a few small changes in design appearance. Alot of the parts if not all are interchangeable.

Hope that helps.
