The install looks really nice and clean! I also really like the red BMR turbo k-member you have installed too.

Rod bearing clearance was a little to tight, so the motor had to come out.

Thanks, I got the kit with the flaring tool from SJM. The flare tool they supplied was total crap. Had to go to the local parts store and buy another double flare tool. The tool I picked up had the 3/16" hole close to one end of the clamp, this helped prevent the lines from slipping in the clamp. The factory lines are much harder than the lines provided by SJM.

That's exactly what I experienced as well.

I am glad the motor was out when I did this. I would not have been able to flare the lines where I did had the motor been installed.

Sure you can if you remove the alternator and steering linkage.

Or you can unsolder on the gauge lights as well.

^^^I heard that unsoldering them makes others turn on. I have not verified this though.

Just a word to the wise. I am a pretty advanced mechanic, and I had a lot of trouble flaring the factory lines. The stock lines are incredably hard compared to the aftermarket stuff at the parts houses. I have ended up removing the T fitting for the rear breaks and just getting the three channel lines for the rear axle from an jy car. So I removed one line that ran from the t to the rear and only use one now. Less fittings to leak!

When you had to bend any lines, did you just bend them by hand?? I just posted about a used SJM LL I got, and I need some help with the correct fittings. Now this guy above me has me scared about the double flares on the stock lines.

Dude the stock lines are viscous. Someone in engineering at GM played an evil trick on DIYers. Those things can't be flared while you keep your sanity!!! Brake lines from auto parts store honestly can be bent by hand. I bought a tool and it worked awesome, but with the scrap I bent it just for giggles and it looked like it was bent with the tool. Auto store line can be flared with your eyes closed. Here's more info:

Im going to have to reflare the stock lines while they are in the car. Is that what everyone does? This sounds difficult.
