Default Help Me!!!! Wheel Hop or rearend going??

I have had this realy bad banging coming from the rear ever since I installed my LT headers. I feel like this is wheel hop but I am not sure. It only happens when I romp on it in first or second gear and when the RPM's get up high enough to break the tires loose. Or at least I think it is breaking the tires loose. Is this wheel hop or is my rearend giong south? I just checked the tire pressures out and they are at 30 psi so the pressure isnt too high. An I getting enough extra HP from my header install that it could cause wheel hop? If it is infact wheel hop will LCA's help the problem and what else helps?

haha...

Dude, it sounds like a part of your exhaust (usually y-pipe) is just banging your floorboard, that's all. Wheel hop doesn't make a banging noise, and if your rear end was going, it would make that noise ALL the time. Right after I installed my headers, when I spun the tires it would knock the floorboards. It went away after a while (bent itself out of the way).

I already had the y-pipe banging issue and I remedied that problem. Now the sound is farther back. If it is indeed exhaust then maybe it is hitting where it goes over the axle.

I had the same problem. Try buying a poly transmission mount for about $20 bucks.

Hi
If you had wheel hop you will know it - sound yes but you would feel it more than hear it. When my car goes into the wheel hop mode, it generally happens at high RPMs and you can feel the wheel break free. You go from a smooth acceleration to a very strong vibration from the back. You will know it.

That is exactly what I am getting. What is the best way to remedy this issue?

Hi
I changed my tires to 315/35-17 drag radials and going to put on relocation brackets for the tailing arms on order. Changes the angle of the rear end. I also changed the Tailing arms - after market.
I hope this helps

So if I get LCA's is it necessary to get the relocation brackets? I very rarely go to the track.

Hi
actually I would get the relocation brackets and call it a day. If you don't go to the track - the relocation is more than good enough and should solve the problem.

I wouldn't recommend the relocation brackets unless you are lowered--you'll wreck your handling (the *** end will slide around too easily). Start with the LCAs first. If that doens't do the trick, you'll need a stronger torque arm. If you are shy on money, I'd go for the torque arm. I went through the same problem. LCAs and relocation brackets didn't stop it. The torque arm is what stopped mine.

Make Sure That The Exaust Is Not Loose From The Rear To The Cat-y Pipe. If Not U Might Need To Install An Additional Hanger By The Y Pipe Because Its Hitting The Cross Over Or Tranny Mount U Must Fix This Because Under Aceleration If It Bangs It Defentlly Will Trigger The Knok Senser...... Which Means The Motor Will Bog....

Mine was just the opposite. T/A didn't do crap but make more noise when I take off or hot the brakes. My LCA's (bmr poly/poly) stoped mine from wheel hopping. I guess it really depends on which bushings you have that are worn out as to what will fix you problem.
