Default UMI "Wonder Bar"

http://www.umiperformance.com/Search...?CategoryID=41

Anyone have any info on this piece, I can't seem to find anything on it?
Has anyone installed one and can offer insight into it? Might this help a 4th Gen F Body?

After hours of paroozing around the Handling/Braking forums, seems there are differing opinions on the stiffness of the 4th Gen body.

Irrespective of the differing outlooks, it has been good reading.

Edit: My 01 SS came with the Bilstein Level II kit if that effects the "need" for the bar or not.

I don't have one, and I probably won't get one either...

I'm removing weight from my car, not adding it. Also I don't think it will really help my car once I get good shocks/springs/sway bars on it. And i'm not about to sacrifice my windshield by adding a three point one that puts stress on the cowl area...

Uh, the bar he is talking about is not a strut tower brace - but a stiffener bar that ties the front frame rails together near the front sway bar.

The description of the bar states it is good for 1983-1992 (3rd Gen) cars - not gonna work for our 4th Gen cars...

Exactly. They do seem to help on 3rd gens. They do not fit 4th gens.

It might however be a not-bad idea for us aftermarket-K-member
folks, like belt + suspenders. Not the specific item, but some sort
of "safety strap" to keep it together when certain welds fail....

I agree, I could see more of an advantage to thoes with the tubular K-members.

Well there is no description on that page at all other than "F-Body Steering Brace" and it looks sort of like a STB so I assumed it was another one of those threads...nevermind then.

Hey sorry everyone, I didn't even see that it was for the 3rd gens. I saw the "2" in "92" and assumed it was "02." Sorry about that.

The "wonder bar" is a steering brace used to prevent stress cracks on the third gen frame. The IROC cars came with one from the factory.
