Default zinc washed rotors??

Anyone know if you can buy the stuff to zinc wash your own rotors? Anyone know some place that sells quality rotors that are zinc washed? I am looking for plain rotors with no slots or cross drilled. I would like the look of clean new looking rotors and not look at all that rust. Baer was too high. They wanted 350.00 pr for plain zinc washed rotors.

Eastwood sells a zinc-plating kit, but I have never used it: http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCT

IIRC the Brembo blanks are only available bare. One alternative that used to be pretty popular and I have had good experience with, but just doesn't come up much anymore are the KVR blanks. These are available with Cad plate, which will get you comparable corrosion protection at a reasonable price.

Not sure if any sponsors carry these anymore- Fast Toys used to.

Might give Sam a call too and see what he's got.

Which sponsor is Sam with? Thanks for the info. I have never heard of KVR. I wish I could get the Brembo with zinc. Anyone else know of anything? I order stuff from Eastwood. I will check that out too.

It keeps them from rusting and they look the same as when you buy them.

Ideal rotors would be zinc washed Brembo blanks, at least that's what I am getting. I need to find out where though.

I wonder if I called Brembo if they would do them special order. Eastwood has some spray zinc but I don't know how it looks. There is the zinc plating but that leaves a coating. I haven't found anyone with blanks with zinc wash.

Never heard of Zinc wash, all of the Zinc coatings I have seen are ellectrically charged onto the surface in chemical tanks.

Some of the high end rotors such as Baer and slotted and drilled rotors come with zinc so they will not rust. I want some good blanks with zinc. Eastwood sells the electric charged deal but it says it leaves a coating and on the rotors I don't know about that.

So what happens if the rotors get used for a year or two? Does the zinc plating wear away eventually? By that time wouldn't that area of the rotor have its normal metal exposed to the air again?

I suppose if you don't let your car sit around for a month without driving it like me, you won't have any rust on those areas of your rotors

They will look like the slotted/drilled rotors nice and shiny when clean. The edges and center hat will rust if they don't have the zinc.

Make sure with zinc washed rotors, you get them wet before you spray wheel cleaner on them at the car wash. I didn't and the cleaner ate all the zinc wash off. The previous day, no rust at all. later on that day they started rusting though.

Hey anarchy99 I see you are from Memphis and so am I. What kind do you have? I wanted blanks but most everyone has the drilled and slotted kind.

You think the cryogenic rotors are the same as zinc washed? It didn't say much about the apperance in the descriptions. I wanted a silver finish.

Yeah, I live over in Bartlett. Not sure if you already know about it but this is a good local site that is pretty helpful. www.wtfba.org . Also, my rotors are some that I got off ebay on the cheap side. Not quite sure about the cryogenic rotors but even though I screwed up the finish on mine, they stay silver for a couple days before they start to rust. Advanced Auto and local places like that should have the blank rotors, but I'm not sure about the zinc washing or anything like that.
