Well, when the brake system acts up I don't know if I'll stop where I want the car to stop-that's bad. From time to time, when the Low Trac lights up the car won't accelerate because it thinks it's losing traction-also bad. I/we need to fix this...

Hmm, my low trac doesnt come on. But it does seem luggish on take off and then all of a sudden it seems like I gained 25hp... think it might be related?

Something strange about mine aswell is it is randomly on or off. Mostly on. But it seems at night at first its off?! Almost everytime.

It never comes on or off when driving. Only changes at startup...

So I pulled my wheels off and discovered that the wheel speed sensors were COVERED in metallic debris and dirt. Isn't it funny how the magnetic properties of the sensor make the dirt stand out like hair? Lol. In any case, with that much dirt on them I'm surprised they worked at all. I cleaned them both off and my LOW TRAC/ABS INOP/ ASR OFF light show has stopped...For now. I wouldn't put it past the car to develop problems with the EBCM and/or the ABS module though....

If your traction control was coming on you'd feel it as a pulsation in your gas pedal, almost as if the car was pushing your foot off of the pedal itself. But if that's the case your LOW TRAC light should be coming on too, though.

WOW I cant believe I just read all 8 pages of this lol!
I have the same problem...ABS INOP/ TRAC OFF (99 Camaro z28)

1. Changed brake pads
2. Changed rotors (gonna try to shave them down..used)
3. Cleaned Speed sensor (was dirty like the picture)
4. Scanned by shop with TECH II threw two codes (will get you guys the codes on thursday, one was right rear sensor).

so yeah I want to fix it too because when the lights come on my brakes feel like they have air in them and are not secure. This is a saftey issue for me because my pregant wife drives my car.

gonna try to replace that sensor

Will keep you posted.

When I had looked for this part at a part shop, they told me they had to match either VIN or some serial numbers or something....does anyone have any knowledge about that or does it only matter if its with T/C or not?

I found this online at sears, is this nothing more than a tool that will tell you the same thing that the Tech II will if you take it to a shop to get checked?

Once the weather lets up, ill be working on the car some more, oil leak and other things that need to be replaced or fixed before starting the car.

so i just recently purchased another v8 its a 2000 and went i got it it had OE c6 5 spokes 18 front 19 rear auto asr car i could switch asr on & off with the switch......asr worked fine within the last week i swapped the ls6 and 80mm tb on the car and put stock 10 spoke rims on asr turns off after about 5 seconds from starting the car and switch stays off car is a auto and also changed diff cover and put new gear oil in

no codes are thrown for rear sensors and i just took them out and cleaned them as well (like shown above) thinking it would solve my problem, but nope.... fuses are fine as well. it's just Asr/tcs so its not a big deal just just wondering what is causing the light to automatically turn on and stay on?

Think I figured out my problem. It seems that my headers melted the wires to both the front sensors. I replaced the wires and used heat wrap. So far seems to have worked.

I just bought an 01 SS vert and have the same problem. "ASR off" "ABS Inop" "Check Engine Soon" are all on. "Change Oil" pops up when i first start the car, but go off after about a minute. I'm taking the car to the stealership, and have the computer reset and if the lights are still on, diagnose the problem. Might cost a fortune, but might help everyone out
