By the way, whenever these 3 lights are coming on I am not feeling any weakness or abnormality in my brakes. They are as if the same when the 3 lights are off. Does this mean anything?

I've got the same three lights on in my 2000 Z28. I had it scanned and it came up as the module. I picked one up off here for $40 and swapped it out, been working fine ever since

I have these codes:
[Brake] C0896 - Device Voltage Range/Performance (History)
[Brake] C0550 - ECU Malfunction (Current)
[Brake] U1000 - Class 2 Communication Malfunction (Current)
[Restraints] U1000 - Class 2 Communication Malfunction (History) (Immature)
[Restraints] U1016 - Loss of Class 2 Communication with VCM (History) (Immature)
[Restraints] U1040 - Loss of Class 2 Communications with ABS (History) (Immature)
[HUD] U1040 - Loss of Class 2 Communications with ABS (History) (Immature)
[HUD] U1000 - Class 2 Communication Malfunction (History) (Immature)

I guessing from all this and my other threads it has to be EBCM. Ive had one for quite a long time because I was worried about having to bleed the system without a TechII. Big thanks to braveplayer3160, Josh40601 and to Deviant_LS1. Now I can go replace the EBCM without worry... then hope like hell it works

UPDATE:
FIXED!10 minutes, a flat head, a torx, 1/2 wrench, and six screws!
As you can see Ive only tested it for a few minutes, but Id have to say I must be in good shape as the lights havent been off in months! Thanks a lot guys!!!

What does it mean to "bleed my brakes" and when do I need to do this?

Search it on Google, there are some videos as well as how-to's. If you have never done it then you should take it to a shop

When you open the brake system and allow air to get into the lines you have to purge or "bleed" the air out of the brake system. There are bleeder screws on each caliper and on the ABS block.

To clarify, he'll be looking for quite a long time on the LS1 controller (if you're responding to an LS1 owner). LT1 F-bodies have bleeder valves on the controller, LS1 F-bodes do not.

I may have posted this before in the thread with the abundance of pages, to simplify searching through it:

If the person having the problem with their controller wants to remove further hassles, we've got an ABS delete kit specifically for the car. Bleeding brakes are simple without the ABS controller as well as the ability to tune brake bias.

Hes talking about the EBCM

Probably had these codes like me:

[Brake] C0550 - ECU Malfunction (Current)
[Brake] U1000 - Class 2 Communication Malfunction (Current)

EBCM is number 2 in the pic below

Its all good man, everyone starts somewhere. But I did say it was number 2 and that it was the EBCM in my post. The arrow points to the front of the car. Just follow the lines from the master cyl and youll run into the ABS block. The side that has the wires going to it is the module. Loosen the ABS block and lift it up so you can get to the torx screws (dont crease the lines). Once out, replace with the one you bought. Sounds like a huge project but its really easy. Seriously took me ten minutes.

Gotcha...does autozone/advance carry these modules? or must you find a LS1 being parted?

They might, but it will cost you sooo much that buying a used one is almost mandatory. I got mine off of here shipped to my door for $60. And as you can see others have paid much less. Im sure there is plenty for sale.

I'll keep it in mind...couldn't hurt changing it out if I've checked all my wiring, and cleaned my sensors...so guess this is next on my list?

thanks man

My ABS light has been on as well and the stops with no issues what so ever. Some of the really cold days it will go off but come back on. The wierd thing is, the ABS will still kick in when braking in snow and the light goes off.

Most use paypal. Once you and the seller work out a price, then you will paypal money to the email address the seller gives you

You are going to have to send the seller a private message due to the fact you can't post in the classifieds. You have to be a member for six months or obtain 50 posts to post in that section

thanks a lot for the info.

By the way, I went to a junk yard to pick up an EBCM. there was none from a camaro / firebird. The guy showed me EBCM of a Hummer H2 V8 6.0L 2005 model and looks like the connector is exactly the same as of my 2001 Z28. Does anybody know if the H2's EBCM fit my car?
