'02 SS not starting
M6 @ 64K
I took the SS out this past Sunday and "stretched her legs" as she has been in the garage for two weeks.
I took her out for a short time, just enough to get side-ways and slam through the gears. (I grinned) Happy with the ride I parked her for a bout an hour. When I got back in to head over to a friends house to watch Ultimate Factories Camaro/Corvette, she would not start.
I checked the battery, fuses & blinker light fluid. All seemed ok. I tried once more:
Dash lights up, good voltage, fuel reading good, hear the fuel pump prime - pushed down on the clutch then turn the ignition... nothing.
No ticking, chattering. Nothing.
As if I were to turn the key without pushing in the clutch <--- that is what I got. no turnover.
I read abit about VATS so I tried both keys - one key fob has not been used so I thought that would work for sure but no luck.
Tech budd's help out!
I wanted to take her to the Coffee 'n Cars this weekend.

I had the exact same problem on my 1998 Z-28, check to see if your clutch switch fell out of its holder (Its located on the bracket attached to your clutch pedal, it completes the circuit to engage the stater). Also try pushing in your pedal all the way then lifting up the pedal about 1/2 in then try it, it did that from day one on my car.

Does the security light on your gauge panel stay on. If so It could be the Body control mod acting up. Try putting the key in turn to on position and let it set there for a minute or so, then try to start the car. I had this happen a few weeks ago. If that doesn't work it could be a bad BCM or the key and switch could be bad. Hope this helps.

the car should crank with the security light on it only disables the ecu. try to aply 12v at the purple wire in the passenger side fender in the engine bay, its a one wire connector, make sure its in neutral. if it cranks then its a bad neutral switch or ignition switch, if it doesnt crank its the starter.

have you done anything recently with your clutch hydraulic system? my car did the exact same thing and it was that little plastic switch. keeps the car from engaging cruise control too if the car is already started.

put the key in the ignition, turn it on and off 3 times, pump the gas peddle 3 times, pump the clutch peddle 3 times, jiggle the shifter, hold your breath and try again.
