Default I didnt sign the ticket, so does it count?

Ok. Got pulled over a week ago after leaving a bar at 2am lol. Cop gave me 2 tickets , cop was maybe a rook so he mest up on the first ticket , said hold on ill be back , came back just handed me the ticket and said don't kill nobody. I didn't sign the first mest up copy or the second one he gave me. So does it still count?

EDIT: there was a long as story to this but just going to cut to the main point lol

I guess if it comes down to it, you can simply tell the Judge that someone that looked a lot like you, had your license, and was driving your car, got the ticket and not you...

interesting, I have no idea but I think it could go either way. without your signature who's to say the cop didnt just see a car sitting somewhere and decide to cite it for something cause he was in a bad mood?

You could always plead not guilty and set it for a jury trial, before you go to trial the DA will talk to you and decide if their case is good enough to go ahead with. They may see a bunch of mistakes and decide to drop the case or offer you a plea bargain.

You can always decide to change your mind at the last minute and plead guilty

Hmmm I was actually thinking about this , not show up and if I get pull over and sent to court or jail for that be like wtf that wasn't me , then say I leave my ID in my car all the time incase I forget my wallet at home. Someone maybe driving my car that night who look like me . Then there is no signature so it was not me who knows who it was.

So you're thinking of committing perjury? Yeah that's worth risking real jail time over a traffic ticket.

In my opinion, if you know you did something to deserve the ticket, man up and pay the consequences. Our justice system is part of the country you love and reside in.

that's what i do when i get tickets. i immediately try to weasel out of it but then "man check" myself and own up to my wrong doings.

On that note, at least he was nice enough to only give you 2, i'm willing to bet he could have done worse so id probably be relieved.

Am i the only one who realizes that if he tries the "someone who looked like me was driving my car" excuse, the first thing the judge is going to ask him is why does he have the ticket?

Stop trying to get out of your responsibilities, man p and take your punishment.

Just taking a guess but you prob been drinking since you just left a bar, and if that's the case your lucky you got to drive home instead of spending some time in jail along with all the crap that comes with Dwi

Just pay the ticket, I can't see the judge dropping it bc of signature.

Technically if you didn't sign the ticket, you should have been taken to jail to go before the judge. Therefore you could almost be charged with escape from custody because the signature on the ticket is a release from the officers custody promising to appear before the judge at a later date. Just my .02 though.

IF you didnt sign the ticket YES it still counts.. The act of you signing the ticket is just you promising to appear in court.. You still are issued a citation regardless.. Its not like a cop can pull you over and be like well if you dont agree with this then you can get out of it.. So if i were you i would just call the court.. BUT you are still issued a citation..

I say just get them fixed.

But I believe that what you are signing for is a promise to appear in court, therefore you don't have to. However, I do not believe that means you are set free. Technically, they could take you to jail instead of writing you a ticket, but when you sign the ticket you are saying that you realize that and promise to appear in court. I could be wrong though.
