Default Epoxy Floor Coatings???

Does anyone have any good advise for what product to use or better yet, not to use, for painting my garage and shop floors? There are quit a few options on the market now...Behr has a single stage epoxy, rust-o-lem has a two stage, U-Coat-It has a two stage.... any help is greatly appreciated!

ACW - thanks for the links. This is even more confusing than I expected....I guess that I will now take a closer look at some of the commercial products....I would much rather do this major step once. I know one thing, U-Coat-It will not be used!

Depends on the price you want to spend.

i am an installer of epoxy floors. i install for Stonhard the best product i have come across. industrial grade stuff. i install stonhard in A lot of GM buildings, along with other building that use pretty bad solvents. everything wipes right off these floors.

one downfall is its a lot of money for a box of this stuff.

one of the main reasons epoxy floors peel up, is to do prep of floor. DO NOT use Acid Washes. go to your local home improvement store (HOME DEPOT) and rent a clark machine. get some of there heavy grit sand paper to go on the bottom of it and sand the **** out of your floor. it will be dusty so get some masks. then vacumn up all the dust with a shop vac tape off the door ways. and go at it. if there is anyone that lives in the SE michigan area and wants there floor done in Stonhards product PM me i do it on the side.

i will try to post up some pics of some of the floors i've done around my house, (bar top, garage. shed floor.)

Sorry to say but I would have to recommend something a step up from Sherwin. I have done 20+ floors and I would not recommend Sherwin.
I used to sell industrial and offshore coatings, and I have been around these types of coatings for years. Check out my site- the site is old but you get the picture..

That my friend is a trade secret- I'll have to limit my responses to general "what not to do" type questions. Thanks for the props- That floor is actually a 25'x29' huge room. The squares are 18", and they REALLY look like tile.....

Looks like all he did was seal the floor, then made the measurments for all the squares and cut the lines like a 1/4 inch deep. Then just sealed it with the same stuff u use around tile.

Humm... I thought Epoxy was to hard and prone to scratch ect.... Most of the commercial floors we had done on our projects the last 7 years or so have been urethane.

it isn't as flexable as a urethane. Expoxy should with out a doubt last just as long as a urethane floor.

I'm going to have www.premiergarage.com come out and do my garage.
They sandblast the floor before coating it. I'm getting their cabinets also.
I'll post before and after pics when finished.

sounds like a good prep. we use a machine that shoots steel shot out on the floor. then vacumn it back up and reuses it. (basically litke sand blasting only with steel shot.

In the vocational training center I go to (for Auto Repair) they have a neat finish. It's an expoxy floor with a clear urthane finish. This stuff won't stain even if you paid it to. It has like little dots sticking up from the floor so when oil spills we don't slip, but it dosen't catch when we move stuff around the floor, it is really neat.
