Default A Long Road Trip with my fuzz buster

I drove from minnesota to nebraska this weekend. I received A LOT of x alerts. I didn't think that cops used x, so what was setting it off? There even seemed to be a certain area between owatonna and des moines on 35 that really set the detector off (I'm talking seeing the #5 which I've never seen before). What does this?

What detector do you have? I know in Connecticut there are these radar box things about every mile down i-95 that set my v1 off like crazy, pisses me off, it is almost useless because of all the alerts in that area. Maybe your area has something similar.

X band is used in motion detectors (like automatic doors at grocery stores) and security systems. That is most likely what was setting it off. Be careful though. I've witnessed some large city police using X band on the highways because most people ignore X band detections.

What road did you take? I just drove to Florida and back from Wyoming (approx 5000 miles) and didn't have any trouble with X other than in populated areas with my V1. I did notice that some construction equipment obvoiusly have radar emitting from them as I would get a K or Ka around some of them and no cops in the area. Detector worked as advertised and probably saved my butt a few times. I almost got nailed by Laser in Georgia, but I saw the top of his car as I crested a hill and laid into the brakes. I was well into no ticket range by the time the detector went off.
