Crazy GMC Syclone Racetruck: The Syborg

Corner
OK, so it might not have the power plant of my choice, but it’s still an insane GM that deserves some attention. Why? Because this is one of the craziest GMC Syclones I’ve ever seen! Oh yeah, and the owner isn’t afraid to wheel it on track either.

The big wings, splitter and bodywork aren’t for show, it’s all go, baby. Remember this keyword: downforce! Under the hood the stock 4.3-GM V6 has left the building and in its place sits an aluminum 283 cubic inch GM V6 that features a custom sheet-metal intake, a Big Stuff 3 stand-alone computer, Canton Racing Accusump oiling system and a custom Turbonetics ball-bearing snail. The combo is good for 410 hp and 440 lb-ft at the wheels, which is plenty for a lightweight racetruck like this.

Suspension
Other noteworthy upgrades include a Fuel Safe fuel system, a rear mounted Ron Davis radiator and a T56 transmission backed by a Borg Warner 4472 AWD transfer case with billet internals. Öhlins coilvers with a custom panhard bar help plant the power and 17″ BBS wheels with magnesium centers and aluminum hoops hide big Baer brakes.

While some might balk at the over-the-top styling of the Syborg, we dig it. After all, when’s the last time you saw a Syclone this wicked? Get the scoop on this unique GM racer here.
