LSX-Powered Chevy Silverado Makes a Fantastic Drift Machine

LSX-Powered Chevy Silverado

Watch this sweet Chevy Silverado build get sideways in a masterful display of talent and machinery.

While drifting as a sport has its fair share of fans and detractors, as a mere display of tomfoolery, pretty much every enthusiast can get down with a little sideways action. After all, there’s no better way to get rid of old tires and put a smile on your face at the same time, as well as show off both your vehicle and your hooning ability. It’s certainly something that Shawn Olin likes to do, and the avid fan of anything that goes recently relived one of his finer drifting moments behind the wheel of his LSX-powered Chevy Silverado as proof.

The short bed, regular cab Chevy Silverado makes the perfect basis for a performance-focused build, at least in terms of trucks. In this case, in addition to the LSX V8 under the hood, Olin has also blessed his pickup with a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission that allows him to row his own gears, making it that much more fun to drive. We also know that the truck is running at least one turbo, which ups the fun quotient even further.

While this pickup is undoubtedly quick, it also makes for one heck of an effective tire annihilator, too. As we can see in this short clip, Olin has no problem getting sideways, lighting up the rear tires, and continuing to smoke them pretty much as long as he stays on it. Switching directions like a pro on the two-lane road, it’s pretty obvious that Olin has more than a little experience doing this sort of thing.

Olin also has a similar build in the form of a GMC Sierra, among many other toys in his stable, including a dirt bike. He’s clearly a guy that enjoys a bit of hooning every now and then, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that. After all, life isn’t always about ripping off a new personal best e.t. or setting a lap record – sometimes, you just gotta cut loose and enjoy the moment.
