Venom GT Runs 0 to 265.7 MPH in 2 Miles

OK, OK, so this isn’t breaking news, but I still can’t wrap my head around the Hennessey Venom GT. The mid-mounted twin-turbo LS7 motor is good for a claimed 1244 HP and 1155 LB-FT and it’s moving just 2700 pounds. When translated into forward motion it’s good for a 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds on the way to a quarter mile of 9.92 @ 163 MPH. But when the throttle is mashed for a full 2 miles the car can reach 265.7 MPH. For reference, it took the almighty Bugatti Veyron a whopping 4 miles to reach to 254 MPH. Score one for the American supercar! Here’s the best part; the Venom GT was still accelerating when they ran out of runway!
