Default Cant decide what trans to buy!

My wife and I agree that I can not make a decission to save my life! I dont know whether I should go with the Performabuilt level 2 or to go with FLT level 4....

Performabuilt offers a 1 year warranty plus no core return and I have read several good things about there tranny's and then FLT offers a 6 month warranty all though they have a core return also they have a sale this month to where the price is damn near the same as performabuilt price. I've read really good things about both companies to where I'm at the point of not sure which to go with...I want to get a damn good tranny that will handle some power. I'll be spraying upto a 250 shot. Advice would be great on making a decision. Alot of money for a tranny and I would like to choose the best or the right one! Want to purchase this month for sure! Thanks alot

When you say OUTLASTED the other company, how long did it last, lol! I dont want to be replacing trans every other year. I need something that's going to last and handle 600hp+ all though I dont want to swap from a 4L60E because all of the other stuff that has to be swapped. I havent had all my BMR goodies under the car that long all though my stocker trans has taken a **** shortly after the motor rebuild and suspension mods. Any other words of wisdom out there??????

I've heard one or two bad things about PB since approx 2004.
I haven't heard anything bad about FLT.
But I'm only one person so who cares. I'm sure theres more out there on both.
And you can't give an honest opinion without 'bashing' someone.

If I needed a transmission I'd talk to FLT.
I know how the core return works with them, you stop by the shipping company, they fork it off, it takes 5 minutes.

As far as warranty goes I don't even think they need one.

when you say one outlasted the other, how did the one that broke have issues behind a 400hp car?

i see you have a perfb trans & i am glad its working out for you! thats why we first went with them...wish it would of worked for us....but just didnt work out for us.

never had a problem with the FLT TRANS...... ever.

but had a few problems with the other companys......

this was their lv2 units......
they said a snap ring came off in the 1st unit & the second unit just had a complete melt down with the tuner mike from straightline in the car tuning it.the 3rd unit we had FLT rebuild from the git go & it has been flawless.

i guess thats what i meen by out lasted.

good luck!

Well spoke with Andy today and I think I'm going with FLT....Really nice guy and knows his ****. Although he was talking it up like I should go with the level 5 which is there
4L65E because my plans are to run a 250 shot which should put me about 650hp. More or less to be safe. He also stats that he has seen crazy hp on bothe there level 3's and there level 4's....Level 5 is quit a bit more though, like $595 more actually! Damn that sucks to because I could use that money for new tires for my Race stars that have been sitting ni my garage for 3 months. What a headache!!!!!!!

I was in the same situation on who to go with, I called FLT and spoke with Andy also i was set on the level 5 but went wit the level 6 since i will be using M/T drags radials.
There were a couple things i could have spent money on top of the level 6 but Andy said it would not be necessary based on my application. Andy will not stear you wrong they have some of the best customer service. Cant wait to get my final tune now that the torque converter is broken in. FLT all the way.

You will not regret going with FLT. They know there stuff and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I too had the same problems like heymoej did. which was a complete nightmare..
