I'm in the process of switching a 4L80e and 6.0 into my 96 ta, something I'm curious about is the difference in driveshaft lengths from the stock to what I'll need to fit up to the 4L80e

Im wanting to swap a 4l80e into my lt1 car. Do i need still need a special torque convertor? what about a spacer behind the flywheel? i want to use a rmvb but i have a street car so i wont be needing the trans brake. do i have to use the trans brake? is there one without it? should i go with a stall convertor or stock? all my car has is lt's and hooker catback. im going to get a tune very soon. its a toss up between a t56 and the 4l80e. Im trying to figure out what all i have to do. I like driving a clutch but if it would be easier and cheaper to do 4l80 ill give it a shot. any info would be great.

My friend is gonna let me have his 4l80 swap so long as I give him everything needed to make his 4l60 again so I'm guessing everything needed will be there already. Both cars are in running conditon. However mine is a 98 his is 01. Do u have a part number for the standalone controller or is swapping pcm's an option? Hi will be tuning his car back to stock and selling it regardless

Re-pin from 4L60 to 4L80 on a Truck harness(should be similar for a LS1)

*Note - the stock VSS's are twisted pair, it is pretty easy to pull the wires completely out of the harness, tape them down to a work table and twist them with a drill, and it would certainly do no harm, soo....

All I know is to run a TH350/400 you need the 4l80 flex plate, so if you installing a 4l80 you shuold be fine! If you going from a 4l60 to a 80, you need the 4l80 flex plate, and spacer. Not sure on the gap.
