Is it any coincidence that the first IROC raced on Friday night used the skin of the WS6. Yes, the WS6. I thought the IROC was supposed to feature current models all prepared the same. Why a discontinued model. Is GM trying to send a message... I wonder

No, it cost a lot of money to change body styles and go through the needed research and development for the IROC cars. I'm pretty sure they don't have a major manufacturer backing them right now so the firebird will continue as the current IROC car until that changes. This is the same with a lot of teams in funny car and other forms of motorsports as well.

The firebird or WS6 has been in use by IROC since the late 90's (1998 I believe was its first year). Prior to 98, IROC races were run with the Dodge Daytona - not the Dodge Charger.

Ya, You guys need to keep up on the times..Like Switchblade said, they have been using the Firebird body since 98, There is no sign at all that the Bird is coming back..IROC really needs to change the body to a production car, IMO IROC is a joke anyway..They need to run a Dirt Track & a road course to seperate the REAL drivers, Not this oval only crap..
