Thanks Bandit! I say go for it, you will love the additional torque not that the 6.0 is any slouch.

PS=you were right on the rings by the way! I deleted the portion off of your thread. No one commented on it so I figure it best to just remove it. Never in a million years would I have thought the rings would move much from their original position. Thats what I get for thinking!!!

I will try to video the car but would rather wait till I can add some excitement to the video. I am babying it around right now. I did get on it a little today but have only put 22 miles on the new engine. My plans are to pull the fuel tank out tomorrow and free up my float for the sender as it is hung under some wires and giving off a false level reading. I promise to post up a video as soon as she is ready to blast down the road.

Don't baby it too much Tony...Some occasional 3/4 throttle runs to about 4500-5000 rpm are very good for ring seat. The biggest concern is not to keep it at the same rpm for long periods of time, and not to overheat it! That would be a killer.

Tick said to get around 750-1000 miles on it before the dyno. I am at 22 so I have a ways to go.

Lol, yeah it might be good for the rings but maybe not so good for the bearings.

hi tsnow678,

nice job on your LQ4/T56. wish i would kept my 68. anyways i have friend that just recently purchase a 2003 LQ4 to put in his 67'SS Camaro and was wondering if there was a specific T56 he has to go with? it is a auto trans in there now if that makes a difference. from what he has been telling me he will be running close the same set up as you did.

thanks for the info and great right up on your build!!!

Thanks! Your friend will need to find a T56 out of an LS based package. He could buy a kit to convert an LT1 T56 over to work with the LS based engine but in the end it may not pay off. It will all depend on how much he sinks in to the LT1 tranny. Usually you can find the appropriate LS based trans for around $1000-1200. The conversion is around $400 if I remember correctly if he chooses to go with the LT1 trans. The only other items needed to switch from an auto to a manual would be a pilot bearing, flywheel, clutch set, and a slave/release bearing. The 2003 engine will work fine with a 2002 Z28 pilot bearing. Just dont buy the Corvette pilot as it is much larger and presses into the first recess. The Camaro pilot will drive into the smaller recess. Once you split the trans from the engine you will see what I am referring to. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

No, it's what inspired me to be a pervert. The pilot thing was just a fluke.

Don't confuse the spectra conversion tank for the stock replacement tank. The conversion tank has the electric pump and bowl inside. The stock replacement tank is just that, like stock. If you are going to sump a tank, just use a stock.

Future,
Are you using the newer Spectra tank? If so, are you happy with it?

I was told by a couple of people that the newest revision of the Spectra tank was better but I have not seen any real evidence of it. Futureuser has the second revision tank with a better fuel pump and is running in the 11.00's in the quarter! The Spectra's seem to work fine as long as you keep it above a quarter of a tank and you change out the pump.

Sounds like they need to work on their baffling, eh Tony? If that's the case, I would stay away from them until they get it fixed. Worst thing you can do to an electric pump is starve it for fuel.
