Got the Dynotech driveshaft in today. Actually bought Tim's driveshaft and had Dynotech shorten it. Now that I know the driveshaft is right I can pull the transmission and engine out because I have to do some paint touch up on the engine bay then put the engine back in for the final time.
All the mock up is done but not without knocking some paint off the engine compartment so everything is out now. While the engine is out I can do some touchup, drill a couple holes in the framerail that I couldn't get to otherwise, put the pilot bearing in and it's probably a good time to prime the oil system.
For some stupid reason I wired the fan (2) power and gnd directly to the relays so when I started pulling the radiator, it didn't want to come out. Weatherpack four pin connector should fix that.
Primed the oil system today using a Harbor Freight oil pump ($13) and some 7/8" tubing from Lowes. Pumped four qts of break-in oil at 40 psi and turned the crank until there was oil out all the pushrods. Took about 2-3 min. Here's my setup.
Worked like a champ!
Yesterday I put the intake in the engine bay, connected the fuel system up and put some gas in the cell. First I took the -10 line loose from the Y and ran a few gallons through the pump and fuel line into a jug to flush any debris out and I'm glad I did because there were some pieces of trash that I filtered out. After I hooked the line back to the Y and pressurized the fuel rails, I had to tighten a few fittings then set regulator to 42lbs.
Still waiting on a clutch but bolted on a flexplate and torque converter and fired it up. It ran for a total of almost an hour then had an issue come up. Will update when I get it sorted out.
