so, you're removing the quadrant and cable, and affixing some sort of actuator to the clutch pedal, correct? Youre issue is more with packaging and location o fthe MC then?

So far the problem with putting the master cylinder through the firewall connected to the clutch pedal (like in an F-body), is that the unibody frame meets the floorpan directly in front of the clutch pedal. Thus leaving no room for the master cylinder.
The best location I've found to mount the master cylinder is on the firewall where the old clutch cable would come through, but this is located directly above the gas pedal, about 10-12 inches to the right of the clutch pedal.
Ford uses a shaft that rotates when the clutch pedal is depressed and turns a quadrant that pulls the clutch cable. I would need to some how make something that pushes in on the master cylinder, that I can mount where the stock quadrant would normally go.
I have considered trying to find a different type of master cylinder that could be used with the T56 like jbk240z said on the last page, but I wouldn't even have any idea where to begin to look.

Don't laugh, but here is a wild idea for your dilema. How about taking a motorcycle brake master cylinder, make a bracket that locates it under dash and attaches to your existing pedal assembly, then just run the hose to your slave cylinder. simple idea, but don't know if you could find one large enough to work the slave cyl. But come to think of it, they aren't that much larger than a motorcycle brake caliper. Like I said just an idea to ponder. Good Luck! Get this car running so I can copy it with my 96 stang.

The Brembo "Rotary" master cylinder favored by Super Moto racers would probably work well.

Shifter was never a problem. Just had to cut back part of the floor and weld an extention on the shifter handle.[/QUOTE]
Do you think u can post a pic of the shifter? I was going to go through Keisler and buy their kit that moves the shifter forward 2 3/8 of an inch.

why wouldn't a MC brack m/c work? They move a lot of fluid, you'd be surprise. That thing is ALL bore. I guees the 'simple' thing would be to fashion an adapter plate for the LS1 to the Cobra T56. They make them for other tranny/engine combos, right?

I'd have to find someone make an adapter plate, and I'm sure that isn't going to be cheap. Plus it'd move the tranny back enough to mess up my mounts and shifter.
I'd like to stick with the stock master cylinder, just because I know it'll work like it's supposed to, just so long as I can get it mounted and attached to the pedal somehow.

Mystic 96 another idea...
Idea: maybe swap bellhousing to an early T56 (93 to 97 camaro I think), which uses a pull-style clutch fork assembly, then maybe adapt it to the Mustang clutch cable, maybe a simple bracket to hold cable end, then attach clutch cable to clutch fork, similar to factory ford. I don't know if the input shafts match or not. It may be easier to swap to an LT1 type T56 and go from there. Good Luck!

Out of curiosity, did you ever call McLeod directly and ask them about cobbling together a bellhousing kit? They make a universal bell for the LS1 and an adapter for the Cobra T-56, hell maybe they could combine some of the pieces from the two kits for you and come up with what you need. You REALLY should just call and ask. The worst that can happen is they'll say "sorry, we can't help".
