LS V8s seem to be the best overall choice, for V8 Miata Conversions whether using Stock, new generation III or Extreme performance engines.
This is my first time on LS1 Tech, even though it's a reply I hope many of you find the subject interesting!
1. The current V8 project is a 1994 Mazda Miata with prior extensive suspension and other performance modifications. This Miata was previously campaigned HARD for two and a half years in "Street Modified" classes in SCCA Auto-X, NASA and in Professional Autosports events on Roadracing Circuts around the Southwest and Western US. This Miata always exhibited exceptional handling / corning abilities frustrating many Porsche, BMW and Corvette drivers until reaching the next staright-a-way.
2)The new engine / transmission combination is a 2000 LS-1 with a T-56 six-speed. It's a low mileage, used package complete with stand-alone wiring harness and re-programmed PCM all purchased from Howard Performance in Gilbert, Arizona a company that specializes in all LS engine models from new "Stock" GM crate engines to Twin-Turbo 800 HP LS-2s to complete used LS packages with accessories, new computers, wiring harnesses and various trick racing applications. Howard Performance is also performed and or supervised the majority of the Miata conversion.
3) I have lots of pictures available including this current LS project, however Howard Performance's website and Furgeson Fabrication's website do NOT have their sites up and posted with these yet so I can be temporarily e-mailed for questions and pitures if forum folks desire until their sites come up.
We can create a list and link it to the top of this forum as a guide.
I wanted to thank everyone who has gotten the word out about this particular forum, I wasn't sure if it would have an audience but it appears that there is one.
Bonus points if you have info or pics of that 59 Cadillac converstion with the turbocharged LS1 from New Jersey!!!![/QUOTE]

Hi. I am thinking about a conversion in my 02 gmc sonoma.
It currently has the 4.3.
If I may inquire about the steps that you went through to swap in the 6.0,
i.e. getting the electronics to match-up in the dash
Thanks, Russ

you shouldn't be surprised.
its not a cheap swap.. the majority of people doing it are people who love their own favorite car, and want a very driveable (or cool) combo...
but for the LT1 4thgen guys, its cheaper to just buy a LS1 4thgen... after all, they're almost the same car...
