It's not like anyone can find any answers unless they sit and read the entire 55 page thread.

well i'm about to ask another. lol i know the blazers have higher mounts but i crawled under it the other day just lookin around at the cross member and stuff and the center steering linkage(don't know the correct term) is close to the top of the crossmember so i was wondering how this would workout with the ls2 pan. some people say i will have to cut the crossmember some and some say i won't. i just want to know for sure.

its a 2000 and 2wd

Wack the towers off,use the ls2 pan cut the friggin crossmember, the steering linkages are not located any differently between the truck and blazer. If anyone is scared to cut the crossmember then they need to leave their 4.3 or 2.2 in place where gm put it.

OK here's a question for you guys:

I'm looking at a 99 Xtreme 4cyl 5spd manual, and I was wondering if you are able to convert these to an auto? Are you able to reprogram the computer?

This truck would be used for a Vortec 6.0/Auto swap.

What mounts have a bottom set of holes...mine just have one set of holes that is like a slot...so you can adjust L to R of the motor. I guess there are dif kinds...just wondering what kind those are with a top and bottom set. Thanks.

Thats nice. I am jealous because I have thought about putting a C5 or C6 tranny and diff under my Jimmy but I bought a Moser 9" for it. Also trying to save up the money to have it four linked and bagged (have no traction with the 5.3 and am afraid to find out with drag radials and the stock differential). Also Jhankinson my swap mounts came from Trans-Dapt and had both sets of holes but I cut the slotted holes off to fit over the 2.8 mounts.

You might hate the rice implication, but Toyota 8" rears are stout too with lots of gear selections, as are the V6 rears (H233B) from a Nissan hardbody. Gearing for the Nissan axle is probably too low, but the early Toyota axles will have a 4.10 ratio and are fully as strong as a Dana44 rear. A huge selection of traction devices are out there for Toy axles as well. They should be about the right width too.

Just a thought.
