is anyone here running a corvette style fuel filter/regulator? If so where did you mount it? And what kind of connections did you use? Do they come with the GM quick connections? How do you convert these to AN fittings?

Ran it in my 87 and mounted it to the trunk floor above the rearend on the small angled area. Makes for a short return line and pretty easily accessible when needing to change it. Russel makes some fittings that are quick disconnect to a -6, which I also used. Some have apparently had problems with these leaking if I remember right, but can't remember what the reason for this or if the problem was ever fixed.

Mine never leaked but only got a chance to drive it for a week before someone pulled out in front of me. I'm putting together a 86 ss right now and I'm going to reuse them on this build as well though.

Hey all. Just joined the club and got myself a 25k LY6 from RetroLSX for my '88 Monte SS. Trying to be budget minded here. I'm going to keep my stage 2 200r4. Iv'e been doing some interwebz searchin and there is ALOT of info and options out there. So if I could pick the brains of you more experienced gentleman for a little more insight/direction it would be much appreciated?
So far this is the direction I'll most likely be going in...
Motor mounts: Either Dirty Dingo adjustable mounts or Moroso solid mounts (Lower
mount: 62630, Upper mount: 62515) w/ Edelbrock 6701
Longtube Headers: hedman headers
Oil Pan: Retro LSX's custom pan for $395
Rework harness: RetroLSX for $500? Tune at Speed Inc?
Accessories: KWIK kit for the ALT and PS for about $300?
Cam: L99 cam reccommended by RetroLSX
Trans: I think I need spacer P/N: 12563532
Any better options? Missing anything? Thanks!
Here's where I'm coming from. SBC 406 w/ HSR.....

Mast Motorsports offers a few other cam choices that would be an improvment over the L99 cam if you are up for it. They should be able to set you up with a calibration that works well with the cams.

Speedo?
I've got an 87 Monte Carlo SS with a stock LS1/4L60e combo out of a 2000 trans am. What are you guys doing to make the stock speedometer work? My trans is shifting way too early and hard, I want to take the car for a tune but I need the speedo to function first. I think I've heard you need to get mechanical/electronical adapters for the tailshaft and a different gear for it... is there a part number or place I can get this stuff?

That being said.. its still not cheap to retain the stock speedo..
http://www.rd-eng.com/pagetwo.html
Or.. You could go this route for 325.00..
http://www.abbott-tach.com/cablex.htm
But I needed a different tailshaft as my 4L65E from a 06 GTO didnt line up..
So for my situation..I went with the tailshaft solution to correct the fit with stock crossmember as well as the stock speedo..
If you go the route I did..
You need to give him your rear ratio and tire size and he can set you up with the right speedo gear.
His price was higher on the web page, but when I called to order it was 25.00 less (450.00 total) Plus 15.00 for shipping..
I never mentioned the web price.. I just asked how much when I called..
Ask for Doug..
Regards,
Matt
