Can i hook my engine speed signal from the pcm directly to my factory mcss tach? Or do i need to wire it like this?
http://www.lt1swap.com/lsx_tach.htm

I know the pcm tach output has to be changed to 8 cyl mode, but i didnt know if my pcm has the power to run my factory tach.

I'm glad to see that the tech info on the new Hooker system of components is getting read by yourself and others Fry. As the document states, the Holley and OE Corvette accessory drives are not compatible for use with the new Hooker engine mounting brackets as the low engine height puts the power steering pulley on those set-ups right into the power steering box fittings, even when using the smaller pulley that some have been known to use.
In order to take advantage of the improved engine/transmission installed geometry that the new mounting brackets provide, you need to use a truck, F-body or GTO accessory drive set-up.

What components system seems to work easily with a 5.3 truck setup in a g body. I have a 84 MC SS and am looking for an easy setup where I can bolt the motor in and then have my guy wire it.

Thank you for your replies in advance.

The new Hooker G-body LS swap components combined with the Holley 302-2 oil pan will allow you to drop that 5.3L truck engine right in and not have to worry about finding a bunch of other parts that may or may not work together in an optimized fashion. The exception to the bolt-in compatibility is the truck low-mount A/C compressor, which can be installed by notching the frame if you really want to run it. The other option is to use a top-mount compressor relocation bracket like those available from Holley for the R4 and Sanden compressors.

the Passenger valve cover rear coil mount boss needs to be hacked off as it just barely touches the AC box but that's about the only interference I've ran into. Still haven't tried the hood but it looks promising. Oil pan does hang lower than I would like. I'll get some measurements of that at some point.

WOW! only 1K on the swap. thats what am talking about, QUICK QUESTION IS WHAT IS EVERY ONE DOING FOR THE DRIVE SHAFT! CUSTOM MADE???

Hey 89ls1foxer!!
I'm planning on putting my lsa blower in my G body as well. An '86 elky.
Have you figured out What accessories your going to use? What about a/c ?
I'm figuring on using a high mount ac compressor but Idk if the stock lsa accessories would work down in our frame rails.
I was thinking about using a corvette accessory drive but Idk if that will clear the blower.

I put the LSA in my 86 GN. Fit great with Spohn/f-body mounts. I used the alternative GM performance accessory drive kit that puts the Alt up higher. No issues with steering box at all. Plenty of room. I used the Alan Grove lower corvette (Same as LSA) A/C mount for the Sanden SD5.
I notched the frame to tuck in the compressor. I don't think you can mount the A/C high on the passenger side due to the supercharger tensioner(I may be incorrect)

Here is some pics of the oil pan i had custom made to my specs by Doug Lee @ Propans great guy to deal with and awesome work!
I took some ideas from a few different pan designs i seen and had him roll it into one it holds 7qts in the pan plus the filter which is a stock screw on type and it has trap door's in there also just cant see them in the pics!

So do the current hooker swap brackets (12643hkr) work with the cts v pan, or is the Holley pan the only option?
