Default Exhaust Cut-Out Results

Ok i was wondering if anyone has any dyno results w/ a cut-out. What was the numbers with it open, and what was the numbers with it closed? And what about the same thing for track times. The reason im asking is because my car seems slower when the cut-out is open. Should i only open it if im running the 1/4 and not the 1/8? I feels like its only for top end?

I picked up 1hp opening it up between dyno pulls. Lost a slight bit of low end torque. Never had a chance to try it out at the track before I put my cats back on.

From what i've seen alot of times you'll gain about 3whp, and lose some torque. Personally I would never use it again, as I had problems with it becoming loose on multiple occassions. Just get a y pipe and a catback.

Some long tube headers would really help you out

i wouldn't waste my time with a cut-out. i don't think there are any real gains with it... i have a friend who has a 382 ls1 w/ a 3500 stall and relatively small cam... torque montster right? he says he still goes slower with an open cutout.

he just uses open to drop panties!
lol

i had one on my car, and it felt stronger throughout the rpm range with the cut-out CLOSED.

I picked up almost 4mph and 4tenths in the 1/4mile with cutout. But, this is with a flowmaster muffler and complete stock exhaust. Flowmaster could have been holding me back.

I don't see how it could slow you down unless it made you spin more.
On a hooking car I think it will always go faster ET stock or not.

No back pressure maybe? It seems like whenever i have mine open, it feels slower. Im sure it helps on top side, but lowend i feel slower. I have a flowmaster muffler and the cats cutoff.

My car felt slower too.
I don't remember if my 60ft suffered or not.
I don't know if it felt slower because it didn't leave as hard or it felt slower because it was making all that noise and I can't really feel .2 in the 8th anyway. It did feel slower on the street but I think its was the same thing again.

I know it was not the weather or run.
I was bracket racing this car. this was during a tnt session. on the same day. I tried it a couple times too.
If my car normaly jumped .2 between runs I would have been in trouble.
most of the time it was somewhere around .01-.05 which was not that great but it worked. but if it was .2 no way I could win any races without driving the heck out of the line and the guys where I race will not let you get by with that more that once without catching on and breaking you out.

It probably helps out quite a bit on H/C cars. Thats what I have heard. I am looking to get an electric one soon. Also, fasttoys (http://www.fasttoys.net/shop) has them on sale right now. Wish I could pick one up right now. Good luck.

I picked up 5rwhp on the dyno. I'm not sure about the TQ. This was with one in the rear. Now I have duals after the collectors. I will be dyno tuning the car soon. I'll see what that does.

I always open it for racing. I will try the test this season.
