Trimming of the caliper mount ears is required for aftermarket brake kits on the 93-97 spindles and some kits on the the 98-02. They are different spindles due to the brake change.

No

Got some weights.
The cast portion weighed in at 10.5lbs
The actual spindle weighed 8.0 lbs

Total 18.5lbs

some info just call racecraft and burkhart.

that racecrafts 17.2 posted weight for a stock spindle, is WITH the wheel bearing.
There normal spindle is 10.8
the ultralights are 7.8

They will only make a 2inch drop, some say its too low? They can make them to with the stock (rack) tapered outer tierod (or they bunpsterr kit is tapperd too). They also clear 16 and 17 stock rims.

The burkharts are lighter I was told about 7-8#s
They make them with drop for stock. .5, 1, 1.5, and 2 drop. They are for a strait hole tierod, but they make a bumpsteer kit that fits the stock rack (metric) so you can keep PS. They fit 15 rims, but don't fit 16 rims, they hit the top of the spindle.

your better off to run a stock spindle and invest in light weight brakes... there's much more of a performance gain than just a few pounds off the spindle.

The spindles are a great addition if you are spending the coin to go with an entire front end kit like ours that includes every part in the front of the car, and only weighs in at 90 pounds. That's for everything all the way down to the hardware we supply with the front end kit that has the k-member, control arms, tubular ultra light spindles, steering, shocks, and Strange brakes!

I have the burkhart spindles.. I went with a 1.5 drop with mine. I did the 1.5 drop, because I had the front of my car 1.5 inches lower then stock, and had to decrease the downtravel by about 3 inches to keep the nose down, this way I have 1/2 of that built into the suspension now as well.

I also swapped to a 27 inch tire, to aid in preventing red lights... I was getting close to red lighting on a pro tree with 26's and 9.5 power, with the added power I will have (roughly double) the car's going to react a good bit faster, this will help prevent the red lights/decrease the learning curve some. I also, am going to set the front end with about a 1/4 inch of shift with 1 tire, so that way I can aid again, in preventing red lights.

Adding spindles at the same time you do brakes is a great idea. The spindlws use a 3rd gen brake and not the 4th gen style. There is not a ton of price difference between the spindle and brake package VS the 4th gen brakes. You also need to take into account the weight of the 4th gen hub. It is very heavy and will be replaced with the spindle.

On the same scale, a Strange 4th gen Pro 2 racing brake plus the cut factory spindle weighed 28lbs.

A tubular spindle and 3rd gen brake will be 23 to 25 lbs depending on which tubular spindle you use...not a huge difference. If you are after every ounce for racing it is worth it since the cost is a wash.

Just weighed the spindle and Strange aluminum hubs i just got and came out to 37.2 lbs for the pair (18.6 each). Why does that seem heavy to me?

It's not. Throw the calipers, rotors and linings on there with it and it will come to 56lbs.
