Its funny how NASCAR runs a M/S cage at the speed and weight they run, yet for some reason the NHRA requires C/M.

With all the new stuff we're at a scant 3170 if needed.

nascar runs at 3500lbs,we run at 3200lbs and less, hard to make a ms car weight 3200lbs or less. The moly is a much more uniform material than mild steel and tig welding makes a much stronger weld.I guess i just shows that drag racers have more common sense than circle track racers.

Doesn't it also have something to do with ms taking a shot and bending, but not breaking? Those guys bounce off each other and the walls and keep going... not sure if the car being made of ms has anything to do with that.

3170, that's pretty light with all the turbo stuff. Probably why you went with a mustang in the first place

moly is def more brittle than ms

If Phil would grow some nuts and really take some weight out,it would be at 3000lbs

yep, plus those cars have safer barriers (drag strips should use those as well) and foam inserts to protect them. along with a host of other design aspects.

Yeah I'd say so. Hell 6.50 @ 3000 lbs is gonna be a **** to get to.. nevermind at 3600.

I'm curious what is required to get that together, knowing what is involved with a 25.2, there's got to be alot more to the 25.3

See below, not trying to call you out but its a big safety factor on why they run MS vs CM

Thats exactly why circle/road cars run a MS cage. they will just deform, thats why they have SOOO many more integration points than a drag car.

in a CM cage it will start to break apart after 2-3 good hits which is fine on a drag strip and you normally dont roll down the strip, you ping pong the walls where the cage isnt taking the brunt of it.

END

Phil and Shawn, this car is beyond badass, and its really an inspiration on what you can do with a small* amount of money hard work and lots of homework.

Keep it going!

Damn, its just past 12:00 midnight. Thrashed all afternoon and we're almost there. Got a few things to do tomorrow and we still need to throw the car back on the scales. I want to kick some *** this weekend and maybe run a 4.60...
