Default Which of these cars is quicker? Auto swap vs Manual

I already know the answer to this, but I want to see everybody's opinion

The cars being used for this hypothetical race are C5 Z06's

Running on a 1/4 mile dragstrip

Identical mods- Intake, exhaust, tune

The auto swap will use a stock 4L60E with a 3800-4000 converter

The manual car will be using the stock close ratio 6speed that they come with and an aftermarket clutch

They'll both use the stock 3.42 gears

On 275 40 17 drag radials

Dont forget to take the poll at the top of the thread!!

Auto......want proof? I'll do one better...how about a less modded A4? That unfair enough for the auto....

Yank 4k and it has a built 60e though that doesn't make the car faster.

Guy driving the M6 obviously got off the line .3 slower reaction time combined with a .3 slower 60 ft so its easy to see where the race was won. M6 using a 2-step? If not needs one. I have seen auto cars do exactly what the manual car did, sleep at the tree & spin, the race proves nothing. With no napping on the tree & a good hole shot see what happens. If the M6 car has a 10 bolt I can see why he didnt launch hard. Autos are more consistent, nothing new here its not easy to drive a manual in the 1/4 but its a lot of fun. Its not hard to drive an auto, especially at your horsepower level ANYONE can do that.

The roll isn't a guaranteed win for the M6 either... they can grab the wrong gear if they don't know what they're doing.

With the same mods, at the drag strip, I think it would be very hard for that M6 to beat an A4 with a good stall. But with that said, I've seen some excellent M6 drivers that put up serious fights against stalled Auto's, so anything can happen. I still definitely have to give the edge to the A4 though.

The 4L80E has a pretty tall first gear (2.48:1). That right there will b slow off the line. And that trans weighs a ton.

I went from 11.7@123 in my t56
to an 11.2@122 with my TCI 6x and yank py3600 made as a 4800 stall.

no other mods done inbetween the 2 runs...
both done in similar weather...
both done on a Tuesday evening, one week apart.

both on a 245/55/16 MR street radial.

I will say.... auto is faster
my car is perfect proof

Cant outshift the computer. And I dont wanna sound like I'm ripping on the guy, bc he can obviously drive, but I've witnessed faster shifts

How were your 60' times? The manual trans guys will be asking about that and also asking about how fast your shifts were lol

80e is only like 30-50lbs heaver once you take that stock converter out of there. And I'd think a 4400 stall and 4.30's would overcome that steep 1st gear.

There is more parasitic drag from bigger internals. Though how much is debatable I'm sure.
