Yeah Ryan, once I deal with cooling system, I'll be sure and take some videos of some rips in this very big parking lot by me. Plan is to be track ready when they open.
Been warming up in Chicago, got inspired to dust off the tools and work on the Banana.
Andrew was tuning the car prior to the winter, and it was coming along great, but then the car started to run hot which due to me never properly burping and filling the coolant system.
I had gotten stuck last year on how to route the lower hose, and made a hose with a big *** loop in it. In the back of my mind, it was not a good idea, it also kinked a bit, but sometimes I do stuff and get mad at myself.
Today I pulled the radiator/fan since it's impossible to tighten up the lower hose at the radiator, too crowded there. Had the rad in out a few times, and hopefully this new lower hose will work out (16AN, 45 degree to the water pump and 30 degree on the radiator):
Can you move the fan up to the top of the radiator? That’s where all the hot coolant is as it comes for the engine. Also, just FYI, last summer I tried shutting my fan off at above 40 mph regardless of engine temp and it made a drastic improvement in engine cooling. The fan running was actually acting like an air block (it was a pulled also). Just something to keep in mind.
I can't, the intake pipe is in the way. Andrew B (tuner) suggested I go to a C7 fan, I could look up the dimensions of that, maybe something else will clear better.
Did the hose work out?
I'd be concerned with it pulling/stretching on the hose assembly itself after tightening but I'm also assuming you accounted for that and left it a little long. ; )
Is the whole system comprised of -16AN hose and fittings?
I've got a Davis Craig remote setup on mine with standard hose/pipes and was thinking AN lines would look much cleaner.

theball, I been busy working this week, plan to re install this weekend. The real issue here is that the hose I have is very very stiff, so I have to get the geometry very close. If it's not happy, I have a buddy who can have his buddy use a much more flex hose and Brown and Miller fittings. I'm just trying to avoid spending the money. it's all -16

theball, I been busy working this week, plan to re install this weekend. The real issue here is that the hose I have is very very stiff, so I have to get the geometry very close. If it's not happy, I have a buddy who can have his buddy use a much more flex hose and Brown and Miller fittings. I'm just trying to avoid spending the money. it's all -16
XRP XR31 hose is very flexible and not too expensive if you want to keep what you have there without breaking the bank. You should be able to use the fittings you already have.
GJ, thanks very much, and the pics really show how flexible it is, nice! I'll give it a shot tomorrow, if it's still unhappy I could order some of that. The stuff I have now is Earls Pro lite or something, it's not quite as stiff as old school braided hose.

👍🏻 Wish I would have found it sooner during my build. I started using fragola and it’s on my steam lines, main expansion tank to radiator, and trans cooler. I found the XRP because of the -20s, nobody has the selection of -20 hose ends like they do except brown and Miller.
What’s amazing about this hose is how lightweight it is. It does not have any steel in it and probably the reason for its flexibility. I will be using the pro plus hose for fuel lines. Super high quality products, I was very impressed and of course made in USA.
Got it on with the current hose, but it's so inflexible the wp therm housing was cocked a bit, bottom okay, top had a gap. Wiggled rad a ton, got it on but it leaked. I tried to tighten the stock bolts, snapped a head off (did this last time too).
So... What I should do is bring the car to a buddy and have them cut the lower bung off and do up a new one with a better angle.
What I'm going to do is try again..
-ordered new ARP housing bolts
-got that other hose coming
If the new hose has more flex, then I should be able to get it to work.
If this does not work I'll bring the car to a buddy.

What would happen if you used a straight fitting at the radiator and maybe a 60 at the pump with somewhat of a curve to it ?
