Thumbs up New Best Full Bolt On WS.6 gets over 30mpg

Drove to my parent's house this weekend. I just finished up my Full bolt on list, minus an UD pulley, and got a mail order tune from Frost. Ended up going over 200 miles there. Majority was all highway at 66mph but I got stuck at a lot of stop lights through a few towns. Ended up getting 30.6 mpg! 208 miles with 6.7 gallons. I had been floating around 30mph but never achieved it because I was never able to drive it without flooring it once or staying below 70 mph on the highway.

So, without all the stop lights I hit along the way I would have easily pulled a solid 31mpg or better. Very happy finally finishing up my car and the great tune by Frost. Can't ask for more from a 400+hp car. Here's a little vid to go with my data...

Anyone Else get close to this? I'll wait for someone with a full bolt on and tuned car to de throne me

I'd like to see your average numbers after using an entire tank of gas a few times.

He's gotta be talking about 400 crank hp. On a 1100 mile trip I averaged 23mpg with my mods including the converter.

Is there an official list anywhere or are you just declaring yourself the weiner? Good job regardless, but its kind of a silly "record" in my opinion

HAHA, I'm not declaring myself the "weiner" of anything . Just a friendly gesture for any others who want to give it a whirl. I don't think there can be an official record anyway since anyone could pretty much make up whatever number they wanted.

And I believe I have 3.42's. Its just stock.

You do declare youself the record holder, if you didn't than someone would have to "dethrone you", and I just added the "wein" factor for added emphasis.. regardless of all this... 30+ is sick, I haven't actively tried, but I have gotten 27 before.. I can definitely see how 30+ is possible with bolt-ons, a good tune, and driving the right way.

Get a cam and 4:10s like me and average about 20 mpg. Going from bolt ons to adding gears and a cam, i never felt so good about losing 6-8 mpg.

I must be doing something wrong only averaging 20mpg all highway. I wish I could improve by 10mps. I'm even mostly stock with just a flowmaster muffler. Congrats man

Highway I usually cruise at 85mph with a couple stretches where I open it up so i'm sure my 23mpg could go up a little bit but i'm happy with it considering my mods.

I've kept track of every drop of gas purchase since I bought the car new in 01. My average over the past 8 years is 22 mpg for 44k of data. Not bad for an eight year total! I have never had a long highway cruise at a set number like 66. I always seem to average closer to 100 on a cruise. I was late to a wedding in Detroit and went 325 miles in 3 hour flat, I got 26 mpg on that leg.

This is definitely possible! Years ago I was traveling from St. Louis to Chicago following other family members in an '01 eclipse spider. When we got there and stopped to fill up, I got 31 mpg's, exactly what they got in the other car. My only mod at the time was a k&n fipk!

Full-boltons and a tune would most likely make you get better gas mileage than stock, unless you can't stay out of the gas
