Just completed a 1,300 mile round trip to FL driving up to 80 mph on the interstate and then being stuck in traffic at my destination point. Also used a/c a bit of the time, so a well mixed example of driving my '01 T/A with A4 and 3.23 rear. My mpg for this trip was 22.75 to be precise and only premium 93 octane was used. I imagine I would have done better if I kept the speed at 70 but I don't own the car for gas mileage. I'd still own it if I got just 15 mpg.

I have seen 32mpg in my WS6, average highway is 28 though. Stock 3.42 gears with a M6 driving 62-65mph in 6th which I found to be the sweat spot for mpg. That is where 6th gear carries the least load v/s throttle to get the best mileage. As soon as you crack above 1500rpm is where it will start to decline. This applies for my 99 and 01 WS6.
Although, I made it from Newark, DE to Baltimore, MD (60 miles give or take) with my 99 TA. Which has a 408, mild head/cam, full bolt ons, Strange S60 rear with 4.10 gears etc... and took less than an 1/8th tank (2-3 gallons) which is fricking outstanding while playing a little on the way too. Couldn't believe it. Gas mileage in these cars isn't as bad as you might think.

I calculate by a spread sheet that has every single gas purchase and miles driven till that purchase from the last. From brand new untill this week 45k miles, 21.9 mpg average. That is over eight years of record keeping and every kind of spirited driving you can imagine.
Of course it is a Camaro though.

edit.... just looked at your sale thread, I'd bet my left ******** you're not making over 650 on juice.

Its always nice to find a car that has great performance but also dosent kill you in gas.
I bought my 99 Ta A4 with 66k and now it has around 79k. I do 85% city driving and i average around 16 MPG city but the highway is around 23. All that has been done to it is a magnaflow and a K&n intake, maybe its time for a tune?

i dont believe anyone that claims they get 30 mpg. i've asked people to prove it but never any takers. i have an A4 and i get 20.5 on average. the best i've gotten was 25mpg, all freeway, cool day 55-60 degrees. i road in my car club pres 2002 35th anniversary 6spd and we got 24.5 hwy on the hot rod power tour. people that claim over 27 just cant do math. again my challenge. fill her up. post odometer milage. drive around. then refill at the same pump and POST # gallons on receipt plus odometer reading so WE can do the math. again i bet NO TAKERS! ps my 4 popper only gets 30 mpg.

I can't recreate the conditions or even the exact performance of my car, but I took a 98% highway trip of exactly 100 miles. I set the trip odometer and it read exactly 100.0 when I refilled. At both pumps, both the fill up before I left, and the top-off, I let the pump fill til it shut itself off. I don't remember down the the hundreds and thousandths what the gallons were, but it was 3.2xx. However you want to do the math, I got over 30 mpg. Even if the pump ran an extra tenth of a gallon more the next pump.
I understand there are inconsistencies between where pumps decide to shut off at, but it could even vary at the same damn pump between fill ups. There are too many variables to get your panties in wad about people saying they got 30mpg. If the outside air temp/inside temperatures of your gas tank are not exactly the same as when you filled it up the first time, it will throw off how much fuel you pump the second time. Take it with a grain of salt.
For the record, my trip happened when it was about 60 degrees outside. My windows were up, I didn't use a/c or even the fan. Tires were at 32 psi. I hit every stoplight I came to green. There is no possible way to recreate what I did. I have over 20,000 more miles on every part of my car than what I had that day. The only mod I had at the time was SLPs Cold Air Flow Pac on a completely unmolested 2.73 geared auto.

humor me, right now its cool across the country, fill her up! post your odometer milage. drive it and put 300 miles on the tank. then fill her up at the same pump / same station. POST your gallons to fill and odometer reading. I DARE YOU! you wont do it, i know people like you. cheers, have a good life. ps 20 mpg x 15 gallons equals 300 miles since our tanks hold that much.

There are very few legitimate 700+ hp cars out there. There are several on this board, but I highly doubt that he does and gets those MPG figures. and if it makes 800 on juice, that shouldn't be stated in a mgp thread... when he's driving normally he won't have 800, so no reason to claim such in a mpg thread.
if his car is a FI car making that hp, my apologies, but I seriously doubt it.

If I go out and drive 30 miles and go back and put 1 gallon of gas in, figures exactly the same as driving 300 miles and going back and putting 10 gallons of gas in.
And like I already stated... since the time that I did that, I have put 20,000 miles on my car. If you don't think that 20,000 miles makes a difference to how a car performs, you are retarded.
I DARE YOU TO PROVE that something that I witnessed did not happen. But you won't do it, because you can't. I know people like you, but they usually end up at the state hospital. Cheers, have a good life. PS our tanks hold 16.8 gal.... unless you have a 98, then you only get 15.5ish, but neither of which is your said 15. Peace out, girl scout.

the only way you or anybody else is getting 30 mpg is to start at the top of pikes peak and coast down. i guess you failed math. cheers and happy thanks giving! please any board monitor chime in with facts.
