When the LS1 T/A debuted in '98 I thought it was the ugliest goddamn thing I had ever seen. To this day, I still think it's the ugliest goddamn thing I've ever seen. But you're right, it's a love it or hate it kind of a thing. I love the nostrils/holes up front and the muscular, sweeping angles and shapes. Whatever the designers were smoking must've been some good s**t. If you're not into flare and shapes then by all means go for the Camaro, which is still a hunkered down, muscular looking thing but not to the extent of the T/A.
By the way, the LS1 T/A is not complete without the WS6 hood. In fact, they should've all come standard with it...

They're both ugly. The LT1 Camaro was semi-decent looking. And then they put headlight housings from a Dodge Intrepid on the LS1 version. The T/A is even worse. Seriously, what's with all the lines and curves and stuff when looking at the car from the front? From the hood itself to the hideous headlight setup, they did everything wrong with the car looks-wise. I had a third-gen (89) then a 99 Z and while the 99 drove a million times better, it was uglier than an already not-that-great-looking car. (I used to think the third-gen looked awesome, and the 4th-gen has never come close to comparing looks-wise, even though I now consider the third-gen WAY outdated looks-wise and no longer like it.)
Why'd I buy the LS1 Camaro, then? Because of the LS1. And Mustangs (which were considerably slower at the time) cost MORE when I was looking. Slow and expensive vs fast and cheap but ugly? The latter, please.

I'm not trying to start anything here, but looking at the G8 GT head on you can see the design influence and heritage that can easily be traced back to the LS1 T/A. So what's the difference?
As for the LS1 Camaro, everyone generally agress that the 73 Camaro RS had one of the best looking front ends ever made; the LS1 Camaro takes that look and perfects it...

We all like what we like, guys. I can not see any evidence of F-body design in my car (at least not a modern Camaro, 5th-gen excluded since the G8 is older), nor can I see a trace of a 73 Camaro RS in the LS1 Camaro. And I promise you that nowhere near "everyone" would consider the 73 Camaro RS to have one of the best looking anything, unless you mean everyone on this forum. The amount of people that do would be significant, but the amount of people who disagree (including myself - though it's OK) would most definitely be more significant.
Jealousy? Don't flatter yourself. Not everyone has the same taste in cars. I've always thought that whoever styled the 4th-gen F-bodies should be imprisoned for life.
Like the looks of your 4th-gens? Good. Keep them. Your choice. I'm sure you guys find plenty of cars ugly that other people like. Honda Civic hatches, anyone? Bleh! See? Common ground.

IMO the best looking 4th gen is the LT1 WS6 T/A (or any LT1 T/A with a WS6 hood, like mine )
The 98+ WS6 T/A probably gets my no 2 vote but i just prefer the sleeker lines of the LT1 WS6.
on the Camaro side i think the best looking Camaro was never made. Chevy should have done a 96-97 RS/SS with the SS hood/spoiler and RS body kit and of course the SS powerplant.

I personally think the TA is a bit overdone. There is just too much going on with it. I don't hate them though. I bought a Camaro not because I thought it was amazing looking, but its just a simple looking car that can be made to look pretty decent.
I didn't buy a 4th gen because of the way they look. I bought it because it is cheap, and has the best performance for the price. Its the same thing with fox bodies. I don't think there are alot of people that think they look amazing, but they are cheap, with huge performance potential.

Reason I bought the trans am over the camaro...IT LOOKS BETTER.
but seriously does it really matter. The main reason you all are like this is based on personal preference or the car you have. Case in point--me.
