Default Keeping car stock

How many of you have kept your car COMPLETLY stock?
I recently bought a low milege SS (1999, 24,000 miles) and I'm torn between keeping it stock of modding it.
Any opinions?

I thought I was gonna keep mine stock too. But you'll get the bug and next thing you know you'll have a cam, heads and long tubes. Mod it and enjoy it

I bought a tb and ported it and put on an SLP lid, that's it. I also purchased LCA's and a PHR, but haven't put them on yet. Undecided on which direction to go.

I'd say full bolt ons and a tune should be a minimum for these cars. But really it's just personal preference.

I've had my '98 for 5 years now, it has 15k miles. Only mods are very minor bolt-ons. I bought this car with the intent to keep things 90-95% stock. So far I've managed to do that.

My '02 car is also nearly stock (lid, muffler, and wheels are the only mods), but it's a DD so I prefer it that way.

It's been a while since I've owned a heavily modded LS1. I often think about buying another one to do that with, but I'm torn because every time that thought enters my head I just tell myself that I should instead spend that money on my Nova. And then the thought cycle repeats...

If you're a car enthusiast it's almost impossible not to mod these cars. My 02 Z28 with 49k miles is bone stock and I can't wait until I have some money to spend on it. Yeah I could keep it stock, put it under a cover, make it a garage queen, and have awesome resale value in 20-30 years from now, but if you own an F-body just so you can sell it and make money decades from now, then you don't really love the car.

Why even torment yourself? You're going to break down and mod it at some point. Save yourself some pain and go ahead and do it.

My only option not to mod was to buy another SS to mod and I already have too many vehicles.

I didnt think I was going to do much to mine . I just wanted a quick and fun summer car . Maybe a cat back and a K&N .I told myself I wouldnt dump a ton of cash in it . I WAS WRONG ! It is very easy to get caught up in mods . Your low mileage SS is probably a real nice ride as it sits . You cant go wrong with a couple of bolt ons . Just hold on th your stock parts in case you change your mind . Just swap them back . Good luck with your new ride

I couldn't do it. If I had to choose between a totally stock fbody forever and finding something else, I would find something else. Only exception would be a bilstein ultra suspension car. These car make enough power to be happy for the most part, but the suspension has a lot that can be very easily and relatively cheaply improved. Suspension mods make the car hook better, handle better, ride better, and do not decrease reliability or gas mileage at all. I could go without boltons and stuff but I like turning too much to live with stock in that area.

That's crazy; I bought my 1999 Camaro a few years back and it had 24k on it.

Needless to say I'm def modding it.

if you say mod it the mod it. if u say keep it stock than keep it stock. i would only keep a car stock if it was ultra rare. my car is rare but idk how rare it is just yet, but its modded like crazy. mods makes your car unique personal and more rae to you. i say mod it

My '99 Z28 went from stock to a blown 427ci, and then back to stock. There's nothing like driving a stock car and not having to worry about gas mileage, something breaking, or the cops.

There are a few mods that are good to do though. Air filter, lid, and exhaust are at the top of that list.

If you think this is the only reason why someone would keep a car (mostly) stock, then you are ignorant.

Many of us here that have owned several highly modified cars of any make/model can tell you that there is a certain level of complication that goes with such a car. Sometimes, with some cars, at certain points in your life, you just don't want to deal with the potential hassles. Sometimes you get lucky; you do a full build and everything goes perfect and nothing breaks for many thousands of miles. Other times, you open a giant can of worms that never closes, and the car becomes nothing but a pain.

With a well maintained stock-to-bolt-on level car, it's almost worry free. There are times when this is very appealing.

If you wanted to keep it stock coming on this site was a mistake. Mine was stock for years untill I started coming on here & now I have more money & time invested that I don't even want to think about it lol.

Someone here told me I have the last of the stock V8's, and I want to keep it that way. Not because I think they'll be worth something down the road, (what a dumb idea anyway), but as I'm getting older I started realizing I just don't give a f**k who's faster than who on the roads. The cars I drive, with exception to the 2V, were born winners from the factory. Even with the dawn of a new muscle car era with 400 hp standard mills, I still drive some of the fastest machines on the road. I don't want to worry about breaking parts, bad mileage, and all the other stupid stuff that comes with 'modding a car that will probably see no end. Heck I might even go back to paper air filters because I've switched schools of thought and I now believe that K&N filters, which all of my cars have, are bad for them anyway.

In the end, it's your car, just do what you want to with it. The fact that you're asking tells me that you DO want to 'mod the car but are holding back for some reason...
