Default Why are goat prices still high?

I been looking to get into a more comfortable Lsx.

The prices for fbodies keep going down but goat prices appreciated somewhat.

I can't find a gto less than $18k in mint condition.

I guess location is key, then. In California I've noticed that GTO prices are going UP, if anything. I don't think I can recall a time when F bodys experienced a surge in value...

I only saw f-body prices drop after the 5th Gen Camaros hit the streets.

... I'll say location as well.

I don't know about that, I seen them go down in price. I almost bought an 04 GTO with less then 20k miles for 10k.

Like everyone else said, location. LS1 F-bodies in my area are still pretty damn high ($10K+ for a decent one, a lot more for a mint one)

Location. I would not sell mine for 18K, (2006, M6 w. 40xxx miles. 20K, you can have it, but other places you can buy 2005-6's with same milage for $14-16 if you search the GTO forums.

They are alot of $$$ here in AZ...If you want a clean 6sp 2005-06 with under 55k..Nobody wants the 04 model. I was in the market for one about 8 months ago, and went and looked at 3 car 2 sticks 1 auto. All three were nice, but they were all above 17K..and they should be.

On a side note..In stock form I was suprised that they really aren't that fast for having 400hp.

I've been looking for one too. I want an 05 or 06 M6, and they are pricey. However, I've been looking at low mileage cars. Most 25k or less miles cars I've seen have been $18-22K. This is ebay, auto trader, craiglist and car max.

For those of you that have a GTO, how do you like it? I've been researching the cars for a few months and most people have nothing but good things to say. None of the squeaks and rattles that F-Bodies have, much better interior, and better ride quality.

The last GTO i saw locally at a dealer was an 06 w/30k miles for $21k. Very nice looking, seemed to be well taken care of inside and out. It sold but not sure if it went for that price, that dealer's known to work with you a little on the price.

Ill agree though, they still keep them above about $13k here and from what ive searched on autotrader within a 500 mile distance from my location. The less miles, the closer it is to $20k.

F-Body's seem to be high around here, i always go check em out and get a price over $12k even with 100k miles on them. I only had 1 dealer tell me, they were priced what it was because it was an 02 (talking about a trans am & ss camaro) and no 03 models came out to compare it too.

Its just because what your used to, Im pretty sure that the 400 HP is flywheel HP and the LS1 F bodies regardless of what GM claimed are 350 at the fly. So if you take into account the extra weight of the GTO's the 05-06's are pretty much the same from a quickness standpoint stock for stock.

And like everyone already said alot has to do with location, but just a word of advice dont settle for a car you wont be happy with and dont overpay for the car either. Either be willing to travel a little bit or just hold out and the right one will come along. I know it feels like forever but when you finally find the "right" one the wait will be well worth it.
