Even if the two were dead nuts equal, I like the look of the MSD intake much better. I don't think anyone foresees this intake blowing away a FAST, but as a company coming out with a product to go head to head with FAST, why would you not release a product that is going to be better in terms of performance numbers. I guess from a business perspective, that makes no sense to me.

Well, I just heard that it's going to be late January at the earliest that we'll see these. Hopefully they learned from Holley and don't keep pushing it back.

If they keep that up it's going to perform about the same as Holley Street Warrior.

MSD isn't pushing it back, its the mail order guys. They want your cash and if the "expected" delivery date is just a short time away, they figure you'll bite. MSD has always said and is still saying late January for the LS and March/April for the LT1. Its the mail order folks jackin with your emotions, not MSD.

That is what I was trying to say. Since SEMA, MSD has always said that they expected a late January -> February release, and they are releasing them in stages, with the first to be released being the LS7, then the cathedral port ls1/6/2, then the ls3 and finally the LT1.

Earlier in this thread, other people were pointing to Jegs and Summit saying they had an earlier 'ship by' date, which I hate that they do that since it's not realistic.

Yup. Seems to work for 'em though! Just irritating if you're waiting on one.

It is a bit reminiscent of the Street Warrior. Summit was more than happy to hold my money for a while...

Just seen the printed ad in the back of my new Hot Rod mag. I didn't know if they had already started advertising in car mags or not. It's the latest issue covering Drag Week and it's a full page ad...

I saw that too. At least that means this intake is going to be available and for sale here soon. I may hold off on going with this intake until some "independent" test results on setups similar to mine have been done.

I think most are going to take this position. If they want to sell them, they need to get them on the popular combinations out there against the other composite manifolds available. A good start would be a cammed LS3, LS6, and LS7.

Agree. I guess I'll let others be the "test mule" for this, sit back and see how it stacks up against the competition, and then make my decision from there.

I am very disappointed with the information (or lack of) I was able to find at the PRI show.

I spoke with the guys at MSD/Atomic, one of which was suppose to have been involved in the development of the intake. They couldn't tell me anything. I asked about the RPM range and how it would perform on a larger cubic (454) inch motor. They just kept pointing at the dyno graph they have posted in their ads. They finally told me to go talk to the people at Lingenfelter. That doesn't speak well if the designer/manufacturer tells you to talk to someone else.

I spoke with the guys at Lingenfelter. They said they tested a prototype and did know if the production model would perform the same. They said they had run it on 454's but didn't have any specific information on how it worked.

All in all NOT GOOD!

I agree. We now need independent testing of this manifold more than ever.

I have a feeling MSD may be attempting to enter an area where they will not do well.

If this manifold doesn't fair well against the F.A.S.T. manifolds (which just got an improvement: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...rike-back.html ) it'll be viewed as an "also ran".
