Default Lunati Voodoo 60510 Cam

I'm considering a Lunati Voodoo Cam, P/N 60510 for my SS. My only other mods will be an LS6 intake and LT's running stock gears in an M6. I'm looking for a streetable cam that will increase TQ and HP throughout the rev range, even down low.

I'd welcome any comments from anyone using this cam.

Lunati Voodoo #60510
Duration @ .050 IN/EX: 212/218
Gross Valve Lift IN/EX: .531"/.531"
LSA / ICL: 113/109

I have the next cam up from that...

222/228
.567/.567
113

I would go with this one or the next one up from it..the 232/238 .599/601 113

I will tell you this the torque is amazing on these cams, it's a great streetable cam and sounds real nice with a good mild lope to it, once I get mine retuned now that I have an LS6 intake on it, I'm hoping to come real close to 400/380at the wheels with the cam I have, my rwhp is in my sig, which is on a mustang dyno with a stock ls1 intake and header dumps.

I am running the same as diablo, havent driven it but out of the garage and onto a trailer but it does sound good and appears to have some good tourqe, I've also seen some nice numbers with this cam using both nitrous and a supercharger putting down 500+ at the wheels. As Diable states about his numbers, that is what I am hoping to do on mine when it hits the road.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I have had my eyes on the 60512 for quite some time. Give your number to a counterman at Advance Auto and ask about special ordering it. The sticker price is like $270ish. Very cheap. The online Advance will give a different price than in the store. Call one up and ask them even. I know its cheap though, because I used to work there.

Is that for all the voodoo cams or just that model?

Valve springs, and hardened push rods (while pushrods arent required its highly recommended, especially since you're a 98).

Of my techs one has the #60510 in is 6.0L S-10, the other #60511 in his GTO 6.0L L92/L76 intake and I have the #60512 in my truck. And wizeass has a custom one I gave him to try 237/243 .600/.600 113lsa. Note some tuning on the 60510 a little more on the 60511 and more on the 60512. Two of us have HP Tuners and tune ourselves. The work on tuning is for normal to idle tuning, but can be accomplished with some driving and tuning. To get benefits from any camshaft you must have some tuning done. All three of these cams sound awesome, mine actually wicked, at redlights antenna and truck sway from the thump of the cam. Aftermarket pushrods are a must in my opinion for any aftermarket camshafts. I highly recommend the Lunati Voodoo series camshafts......

LQ4 w/stock deck on both heads and block, what length pushrods are used with the Voodoo cams?

Very Little Cam, I dont know how much change you will see or feel? Lots of work for little payoff IMO. I would look into gears before this then.

I like Diabloformula's recomendation on the next step up cam. That seems like a good increase, were you will get some reward for your work.

Where in the Springs do you live? I am going to be down there this weekend off Circle bisting family lol. Kinda Cool to see more Colorado Guys on this Forum.

agreed. VERY small cam and wont see much increase for the amount of work youll be putting in. two cams that i always recommned for people looking for a driveable small cam that will make power all over are the Texas Speed 224R( 224/224 .581/.581, your choice of LSA) and the 228R(228/228 .588/.588, your choice of LSA). both will yield good power gains over the voodoo cam you seggested. a cam kit from TSP, only comes with cam, hardened pushrods, and springs, will run you under $600. ill see if i can dig up some dyno #s for these.

exactly what i was thinking. ide look at TSP's cams. 224r or 228r.

224r: 224/224 .581/.581 112 or 114 lsa

228r: 228/228 .588/.588 112 or 114 lsa

edit: lol i just noticed WSsick's post

ok here we go: [all of these are cam only numbers, no heads, since i assume thats what you are doing]
228R=
this guy still had the ls1 intake and had some decent #s. 400/400 easy with LS6 intake.....https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...t-400rwtq.html

this one is through a stalled auto, so it will suck up some HP but still good #s, but itll hit low 12s since its stalled...https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...talled-a4.html

another set of good 400+ numbers...https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...m-numbers.html

another stalled auto, and no LS6 intake, good numbers esp missing both of those...
https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...4-results.html

couple 390rwhp setups- https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...o-results.html.........https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...-cam-dyno.html

224R=
pretty decent numbers with such a small cam...https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...p-380lbft.html

these look low, but no LS6 intake, through cats and a very restrictive catback.....https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...-224r-cam.html

through a 9" rear and with 4.11s eating power, another set of good #s for a small cam....https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...ers-224-a.html

390ish....https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...d-more-hp.html

best #s ive seen from a 224 cam.....https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...24r-112-a.html

remember, 224 numbers wont be that good most of the time, expect 375-390ish. the 228R will give you alot more all over the power band.

personally, i usually recommend a custom grind cam, since it can be spec'd exactly for YOUR setup & YOUR goals/wants/needs (and its only $20 extra) but this is a pretty good small cam, esp for cam only. if you are adding heads, id go custom grind, but if not, either of these would be good, ESP THE 228R.
