Is this the first mention of DOHC for the LS9?

EDIT: Look in <upper right corner> of document for "DOHC" and <center> for LS9 reference.

In case the information has been tainted with trackable "disinformation" I will summarize but must be vague. I do not rule this out as being an intentional leak.

- The "Corvette SS" undeniably a go.
- We are at the very beginning of the program.
- Will be limited #s
- Not indicated to be "blue devil".
- Will be outfitted with a "charged" LS9.
- This will be a Corvette-only motor not to be in a caddy.
- The LS9 is a smaller displacement motor than the LS7. <----
- The "Corvette SS" will be top dog, Z06 will not be.
- Well over 600 HP.
- No test/beta/pilot Corvette SS exists in any shape or form. So don't waste your time looking for one yet.
- Unlike info on some other sites, this Corvette WILL NOT be seen for a very very long time.

I think there are others that know this info, but there are a lot of shaking knees when it comes to even discussing it.

To our GM viewing audience, just want to say thanks for keeping the Corvette line exciting and for continuing to take the car to new levels. Great job. Keep up the good work, we love it.

Look at the date of the thread; 10-20-05. Seems like this guy is "in the know" pretty good with someone at GM. Just from a business standpoint, it doesn't make sense for GM to simply discontinue the LS7 after spending so much on R&D, tooling and production costs. My guess is it will show up in other GM performance vehicles (no dry sump) to recoup some of the high costs of the engine. In fact it's probably a given it will, especially if they drop it from the Corvette line.

I agree that it will be used in another GM vehicle. I'm sure it will wind up in the new camaro as an SS option with 450-475hp. Something to beat the new mustang that will have 450hp.

It'd be nice to have an LS7 in the new Camaro. Throw in a cam, LTs and tune it and see 550+ rwhp.

I don't see what is wrong with twin screw superchargers. They have low end boost of a roots style and can almost match the high end boost of a centrifugal.
I personally hope that they use the new Rotrex superchargers that are just becoming available in the U.S. Those are cool.

So what's the difference between the LS7 & LS8? It says that the LS8 is 480-500hp, the LS7 is already above that level!

I think the LS8 is replacing the LS2 as the base Vette motor.

how much will it cost? adding another 100 HP to the C6 as a base can't be cheap. I hope they aren't offering this LS8 for around 60K...
