When I purchased my car the previous owner had a B&M Ripper shifter installed. I believe that this shifter is a little shorter than stock, but not as short as a like. Is the only way to make it shorter to pull it out and cut it? OR would just buying another shifter that is short, and throwing that in there be easier? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

you can get a shorter stick for the pro 5.0, but i believe the actual throw(distance between gears) is about the same as the b&m. a shorter stick will make them feel closer together, but you also end up with less leverage on the stick for going into gears. my t56 can be notchy when cold, and it would probably bother me. that may or may not bother you, but just wanted to bring it up.
a shifter ive been looking at and you may like also is one from MGW. they recently started making one for the fbody. they used to only do vipers, mustangs and vettes(could use vette shifter, but wrong thread size on stick for factory fbody *****). their website only shows those three cars, but if you call, they have the fbody one available. it looks like if you wanted to, you could slide the stick down further to make it shorter, or even cut it if you really wanted to. not 100% sure on that though. looks like a really well made piece none the less.
this guy loves his. good pics and review + video.

Tried the ripper on my old TA. Besides being noisy, the throws weren't noticeably shorter than stock. It just felt tighter since it didn't have a rubber bushing in it like the stock shifter. I thought about getting a Pro 5.0 but its noisiness turned me off. The last thing I want to hear is gear rattle every time I slow down. I guess I'll be saving up for an MGW.
