Terry, I've already went over why I am having Herter tune my car, and I will gladly drive to PA to get a tune from him.

Anyone got a trailor???
U-Haul rents car trailers pretty cheap I think

I know Herter will be in town the end of July, but that will be the hottest part of the year, and I will have to wait another whole month.

I already checked out the U-haul prices, and the cheepest I could get a trailor was for $100.

Why on earth would you have Herter tune a LS1 car instead of GLM or Wait4me? I know he does LT1 stuff, but why not the local guys? Just curious?

hmmm, I always had good luck with GLM, but if you don't trust someone on your car I understand that! Goodluck with the tune of the dumdumdumdumdum!

If you are referring to me not fixing your car I have offered several times for you to bring it down and drop it off. You have declined each time.

Thanks

Shocker is correct. The tune is everything, and since its a 98 it will not be a sinch. I have used and trusted Bryan in the past, and he has never given me anything but a sound tune everytime with no issues.

Blake, your buddy isn't coming north anytime soon is he?

If I can't get a trailor, I might end up driving it. I really don't want to as I still think its un-reliable, and even though I plan on changing plugs and oxygen sensors after the drive, but before the tune, there is always the possibility with issues. It seems to be driving "okay" here and there past the cam surge and idling issues. But it stumbles and shakes here and there and runs really rich.

So far, the only possible trailors are U-haul for $100, or a goose-neck trailor I can't attach to anything to make it work.

Ben, are you still on the stock tune? Why don't you send the PCM to Bryan to put a base tune in it for your mods so you can drive the car to him?

He's got a base, it's just a little fat idle.

As usual, Shawn is right. The car has a base tune, however it is rich (most of this is probably due to the fact that the spark plugs are fouled out, and the oxygen sensors are toast). In any case, I would much rather trailor it, than drive it. However, as of right now, I don't have a trailor (or can't get one for cheep enough to make it worth it), so I'll probably end up driving it to PA

I'm not really worried about the bad idle for the trip as it will mostly be a highway trip. I am however concerned as every once in a while I will get a very bad surge (possibly cam surge) in the car while driving it through the gears or even trying to hold it at highway speeds. It will shake a sputter pretty bad, and to have that occur on a 300+ mile trip to PA at 3 a.m. in the morning on its way to the tune is not something I am going to feel very comfortable with.
