How can I tell if my Z28 came with the ls1 or ls6 intake manifold?

Default How can I tell if my Z28 came with the ls1 or ls6 intake manifold?

A friend of mine told me that the 2002 Z28's came with the LS6 intake manifold, but I am unsure of that. How can I tell?

all the 01 an 02 cars came with the ls6 intakes.

Other than taking the intake off and looking at the bottom of it, you can run the part number. There was a thread on here not long ago with the part numbers in it. Don't bother using the search to try and find because search is pretty much useless anymore

Yup, the 01-02 cars came with the ls6 intake manifold. A dead give away that it would be an ls1 intake manifold would be the egr tube sticking out of the top. They also came with 241 heads instead of 853. The cam is out of a 6.0 vortec, I believe.

The LS1 intake has an EGR fitting (or a delete-plug)
just aft of the throttle body. On LS6 this is a bare
area on the casting, no hole.

Unless the person you got it from installed the SLP LS6 intake which has an EGR adaptor Like I'm gonna get.

last 3 numbers on the intake are 572

Word to all the above. Now unless someone swapped the mani out for a ls1, it should be a ls6. I think I remember reading someone on here bought a used 01-02 car, and it had a ls1 mani on it. But if it is stock, it will be a ls6.

Look for the part number, look it up in the parts numbers sticky. There are a few different ones for the LS6 intake - mine came with 12561184 from the factory.

heres another question then too, not trying to hijack, just about the LS1/6's in 01-02.

my cars a 98, with a newer motor. i have an LS6 block with 241 heads, but i still have the LS1 manifold. does the LS6 block have the LS6 valley cover? or the LS1 cover?

LS6 block? How do you determine that? I have no clue, that's why I ask. I was looking at crate motors the other day and was seriously considering buying a crate ls6, but if they are that similar, why should I?

the back of the block on the drivers side underneath the cylinder head. my block number is 12561168. theres no advantage to having an LS6 block, in fack my friend had a motor built at MTI and they used a LS1 block, its a sleeved 427 now.

as for the crate LS6 did you ever see in CHP they tested a gmpp LS1 crate? put it on a engine dyno and through the stock manifolds hit 400hp at the crank? idk all the specs on it, just that it mostly says stock, ill dig on their website and see if i can find the article.

All 01-02's came with the LS6 intake and the LS1 intake has an EGR fitting on it
