Well, went out the other day on back road. Hit first gear, spun RPM's up to about 5K, clutched er and then shifted to 2nd....No spin but the engine revved. Is that my clutch not grabbing hard enough???? My ol stang could do it no prob.
Just thought I would put that out there for some feedback.

Well, what does your G-tech say? ![The Jester](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_jest.gif)
So your are saying you engine revved (as in the car did not increase in speed), but your tires did not spin? Sounds like your clutch is slipping; put it in 6th at about 45mph and if your engine revs disproportionately with your speed then you have a slipping clutch, and should start looking for a new one.

On my old Kuhmo Ecsta's I could get sideways going into second and chirp third. With my BFG KDW's I get a tiny chirp in second and none in third. The BFG's stick better. I also went from a P245 to a P275 so there is more tire on the road as well. I think you're probably worried for nothing.

yea, when i had my 245/40 series on the back, i could roast them in 1st, 2nd and halfway thru 3rd. now that i have 285/40 series in the back i can only burn thru 1st and chirp 2nd. i luv it, no traction problems!

That's exactly it...good for racing, she hooks and goes...but for fun???
And how can a tight clutch break your rear end when ya break the tires loose? It's the traction that causes the stress.
Glad I aint the only one who can't spin em in second....need more tourque I guess.

It still puts a shock on the rear end.

I don't think I have ever heard noise from my tires. The sumitumo's I have now nor the bfg drag radials. I know I'm spinning in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd because the back end is sliding around, however there is absolutly no noise. It's nice for cops, sort of; I guess it really doesn't matter because they could hear the engine. It kind of sucks though because people are like you really spun in 3rd gear? It's like did you not feel it move around.

my tires suck at chirping too (even though i'm an A4). when i take off harder than normal, i can feel them spinning but i don't hear anything. it sounds like when you launch on gravel. the only time they chrip if it's a really smooth road, even from a standstill. otherwise they just sound like you're kicking up gravel. with an A4, 2.73's, 275's and Z06 rims, i couldn't chirp 2nd gear if my life depended on it
awesome handling though

When my car was stock, it would really chirp/slide around into second, and make a little noise going into third if shifted hard, but now it doesn't make any noise anymore, it just does like 777 says....silently slides around... ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
I did get some new tire though, so that probably it...

With my stock LS6 clutch and street tires it would get sideways when I hit 2nd hard, and chirp 3rd. Now with the TEXtralia and Nitto DRs it chirps 2nd hard, along with 3rd AND 4th! Your clutch is going for sure if the engine revs up like you described. Just because you don't physically "hear" a chirp doesn't mean it didn't break traction. Different tires and different road surfaces can make it where it doesn't make a sound, but you can feel it break loose.
