Depends on the setup. I had several passes on my 10 bolt with 4.10s and never broke anything. I'm sure it was just luck, but I've seen seen 10 bolts take a dump with 3.42's. Cody's is awaiting a rebuild as we speak. Mileage has a big part and how you drive it. I swapped because of I was tired of 1500rpm lauches and because of my goals for the car.

obviously driver has a lot to do with it but lets be honest so does tires. And although i have heard of 6 speeds breaking ten bolts with street tires it is a lot less likely when not on a sticky tire.

I agree 100%. Wheel hop is the main culprit, but it will also get the best of any rearend if it's violent enough.

thats true for Cody as well and also still being on a street tire. i say 10 bolt soft launch on street tire makes for an awful quarter time as opposed to what your car is capable of. Chris A claims to have the magic touch with the ten bolts and although that may be true its not true for everyone. i garauntee i could launch the **** out of a ten bolt but the clutch prolly wouldnt make it through a couple runs bc i would be riding that MF like no tomorrow, hence the reason i dont drive a stick...

one day though cody will have the cam, gears, and intake to power him way down into the twelves even with launching soft.

Wheel hop is the killer. I never broke a 10 bolt but I have broken 3 stock 9" center sections. Two were wheel hop and one was 3-2 shift= kaboom

I sprayed him when I got in 2nd. My 10k car against his 80k car he should have swallowed me. I still think the most impressive car out there was the black GT500. That car went 11.47 and thats a heavy *** car. If I can get my car in the 1.6x's I'm hoping for some 11.50's on motor.

what do you think about a spool for the ten bolt. im doing 373s soon and was thinking that the factory torsen may become the weakest link....it is a flimsy piece of **** although no problems so far....josh seems to think it would be ok but i dont want to chew up tires...

Josh you wanna come over and lets go do some parking lot turn ins and stuff so i can see how it acts?

Chad are you still gonna be running the DR's or did you get some different tires? I know the suspension should do the trick, just curious on the tires.

he wasnt running so hot on the street tires when he first showed up....guess that means nothing to fear if you get stuck next to him at the redlight.....i still think he was running 12.0s though but who cares he has a blower, what kind of sissy needs a blower

I dont like a spool in a street car, first time it bites while turning kiss the stock axel good by. I snapped 2 left axels in my old camaro turning and pulled the spool out and went back to one tire fire.

You beat me to it. 10 bolt axles are to wimpy for a spool

That 93 has one hell of a rear in it lol. Both pull anytime you hammered on it and left hard at 6k on a set of dry *** slicks.

Yeah I can when the weather clears up. As far as the 10 bolt goes, I was thinking later and a spool is probably gonna be to violent for the 10 bolt. I was thinking of mine when I talked to you. Sharp turns aren't bad in the parking lot if you give it some gas while your doing it. It will drag the inside tire and you will hear it chirping as you turn because it's turning the same speed as the other. Plus, on the M6's it makes some racket when it's still in gear if your not on the throttle a lil bit while turning. If your giving it some gas though it doesn't make that noise, but you still hear the tire chirping.

hmmm i see, well thanks for the advice. guess i will stick to the torsen with its wimpy worm gears. i think it can handle stalled up launches but off idle launches makes me think kaboom.
